My husband and I often go out for eel rice bowls, and I wanted to introduce the eel rice bowl place we visit most — great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean-tasting food, and a big parking lot ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

The restaurant I want to introduce this time is Yangsando, a Gijang favorite!!

Yangsando Gijang Yeonhwa Branch has a spacious parking lot, so it's perfect for visiting by car, and there's a small pond and a pretty garden out front — great for a nice photo too.
Inside Yangsando: private rooms and booking the pond-view room 2
Every seat at Yangsando Gijang Yeonhwa Branch is a private room. If you want the window room with the pond view, you need to book ahead — we reserved and were shown to room 2, the one with the pond view.

Yangsando, a Gijang favorite, has all-private-room seating with clean interior design, making it great for dates as well as visits with parents.

One side lets you eat while looking out at the pond, so if you want that seat, I'd recommend booking ahead.
The other side has larger rooms with more seats, perfect for gatherings, work dinners, or family events!!
Since we booked ahead, we were shown to room 2, the pond-view room.
Inside each room there's a rack and hangers for coats, so it's comfortable to dine here even in winter.

What we ordered: hitsumabushi, butadon and jangsaego mandu
This time at Yangsando Gijang Yeonhwa Branch, we ordered hitsumabushi for ₩27,000, butadon for ₩17,000, and jangsaego mandu for ₩7,000. The food comes out neatly as a full table setting.
Today's order — Hitsumabushi ₩27,000 / Butadon ₩17,000 / Jangsaego mandu ₩7,000

At Yangsando, when you order, the food comes out neatly as a full spread. The garden is kept so pretty that it's fun to admire the view while eating.

My husband ordered the hitsumabushi we always get, and I ordered the butadon, a pork rice bowl. FYI — the regular hitsumabushi comes with one whole freshwater eel, while the large size comes with one and a half!!

What comes with the hitsumabushi, and how to eat it with ocha broth
Yangsando's hitsumabushi comes with rice plus miso soup, steamed egg, salad, cold soba, kimchi, seaweed flakes, chopped green onion, and wasabi. Just follow the order printed on the back of the menu.
First, my husband's hitsumabushi from Yangsando!!

Order hitsumabushi at Yangsando, a Gijang favorite, and it comes with rice plus miso soup, steamed egg, salad, cold soba, kimchi, seaweed flakes, chopped green onion, and wasabi.
Following the instructions on the back of the menu, first taste the eel rice bowl plain, then lightly mix in the seaweed flakes and green onion, top with wasabi for a clean bite, then—

—pour in the ocha broth from the small pot for a nutty, light finish, then eat whatever's left the way you liked it best.

What does the butadon taste like? Egg yolk and perilla leaf
Butadon at Yangsando Gijang Yeonhwa Branch is ₩17,000 and comes with rice plus salad, perilla leaf, kimchi, wasabi, cold soba, and steamed egg. The egg yolk on top made the butadon even softer.
Next up, the pork rice bowl I ordered — butadon!! This was my first time ordering butadon at Yangsando Gijang Yeonhwa Branch, so I was really looking forward to it><

Order butadon and it comes with rice plus salad, perilla leaf, kimchi, wasabi, cold soba, and steamed egg.
On top of the butadon was a fresh, glossy egg yolk, which made the dish even softer.
There's a subtle smoky char and a savory sauce, so the rice bowl alone is delicious, but—

—wrap a bite with the perilla leaf and wasabi that come alongside, and it's even better.

Jangsaego mandu (eel and pork dumplings), 7,000 won
Yangsando's jangsaego mandu is ₩7,000 — dumplings packed with eel, shrimp, and pork all together. It has a savoriness and depth completely different from regular meat dumplings.
Rice alone felt like it wasn't quite enough, so after some thought about what side to add, we ordered the jangsaego mandu!!
Jangsaego mandu at Yangsando, a Gijang room restaurant, is dumplings with eel, shrimp, and pork all mixed together, giving a savoriness and depth totally different from regular meat dumplings—
—the wrapper is chewy and the filling is packed with juice!! If you visit Yangsando, I really recommend trying this as a side. Honestly, I wish they'd sell these as frozen dumplings hahahahaha.
Is Yangsando a good room restaurant for a date in Gijang?
