Yongin noodle restaurant for family lunch: Chilseong Jemyeonso

In short

Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch is a Japanese-style restaurant in Seongbok-dong, Yongin, with udon, buckwheat soba, jjolmyeon, pork cutlet, and dumplings. My husband chose the Daegu Bukseong-ro Udon Set, our son had the Pan Buckwheat Soba Set, and I ordered the Chilseong Spicy Mixed Jjolmyeon Set. It was an easy family-lunch choice when nobody wanted the same thing.

Photo introducing family dining menu choices

When eating out as a family, choosing a menu is surprisingly difficult, isn’t it? If everyone wants something different, even deciding where to go becomes a dilemma.

Photo of varied noodle dishes and pork cutlet menu items

Chilseong Jemyeonso has such a varied menu, from udon, buckwheat soba, and jjolmyeon (chewy wheat noodles) to pork cutlets and dumplings, that it was easy for everyone to choose what they wanted.

That day, my husband ordered the Daegu Bukseong-ro Udon Set, our son ordered the Pan Buckwheat Soba Set, and I ordered the Chilseong Spicy Mixed Jjolmyeon Set.

Let me introduce Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch, a Seongbok-dong restaurant in Suji where the three of us picked completely different dishes to suit our tastes.

Even if you drive, you can use the building’s underground parking, so it is quite convenient for a family visit.

Photo of the streamside walking path in front of the restaurant

One thing I liked was the walking path right in front of the restaurant. It follows a stream and looked great for a light walk after eating.

We did not walk that day, but once the weather gets a little cooler, I thought it would be nice to have lunch and follow it with a stroll.

Noodle dishes everyone in the family can choose their own way

As you can tell from the name, Chilseong Jemyeonso offers many kinds of noodle dishes. You can choose udon, buckwheat noodles, jjolmyeon, and more depending on your preference, while pork cutlets and dumplings are also available, making it a solid family dining spot.

The actual menu is broad as well, centered on varied noodle dishes with pork cutlets, dumplings, and side dishes.

It seems like a good place for people looking for noodles in Seongbok-dong, as well as those looking for pork cutlets or dumplings in Seongbok-dong.

While looking over the menu, I also spotted dishes I would like to try next time, such as white jjolmyeon. Unlike places specializing in just one dish, its advantage is that it is easy to choose when every family member wants something different.

How was the Daegu Bukseong-ro Udon Set?

My husband chose the Daegu Bukseong-ro Udon Set. Its name alone was a little different from ordinary udon, so it caught my eye.

Photo of a warm udon set meal

My husband wanted warm noodles and chose udon, while our son and I picked buckwheat noodles and jjolmyeon respectively, so our tastes really went in different directions.

Still, because each of us could enjoy the noodle dish we wanted at one table, it was convenient for a family lunch.

Especially when there is a temperature difference between day and evening like these days, one person may want cold noodles while another craves warm broth, so I liked having so many choices.

A satisfying lunch with the Pan Buckwheat Soba Set

Our son ordered the Pan Buckwheat Soba Set. Buckwheat soba is an easy choice when you want a clean, uncomplicated meal.

Since it could be ordered as a set, it also made for a more satisfying lunch than noodles alone. If you are having lunch with family in Seongbok-dong or looking for a good restaurant near Seongbok Station but everyone has different tastes, this kind of varied menu would feel very convenient.

Chilseong Spicy Mixed Jjolmyeon Set with pork cutlet

I ordered the Chilseong Spicy Mixed Jjolmyeon Set. If you usually enjoy jjolmyeon, it is the kind of dish that would catch your eye on the menu.

I could enjoy jjolmyeon’s signature chewy texture along with pork cutlet, and because it came as a set, it was a filling lunch. Chilseong Jemyeonso has several kinds of jjolmyeon besides the spicy mixed version, so I would like to try another one next time.

If you are looking for noodle dishes at a Suji restaurant, remember that you can choose jjolmyeon as well as udon or buckwheat noodles all in one place.

A lunch that suited all three family members

Looking back at what we ate at Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch, my husband had the Daegu Bukseong-ro Udon Set, our son had the Pan Buckwheat Soba Set, and I had the Chilseong Spicy Mixed Jjolmyeon Set—our preferences really were all different. That made Chilseong Jemyeonso’s strengths stand out even more.

With many kinds of noodles plus other dishes such as pork cutlets and dumplings, it was a good place to visit with children or when a family cannot agree on one meal. It also seems like a good choice for anyone looking for a family lunch around Sinbong-dong Dining Town or in Seongbok-dong.

Most of all, I liked that you can continue on to the walking path right after your meal. We only ate lunch and headed home this time, but next time I would like to visit on a nice day and take a walk afterward.
