Izakaya near Sinsa Station with skewers and highballs: Gobusi Nonhyeon

While looking for an atmospheric izakaya near Nonhyeon Station, I ended up at Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch, a cozy bar with plenty of Japanese vibes. Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch sits on a quiet alley, so instead of the loud, chaotic bar scene, it felt more like sitting down comfortably in an actual local izakaya in Japan, enjoying food and drinks at ease.

Izakaya vibe with a terrace

This Sinsa Station-area izakaya, Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch, has terrace space, so visiting on a nice-weather day like these lately lets you really soak in the atmosphere.

The interior isn't flashily decorated — the lighting is soft and it has that cozy, relaxed feel unique to Japanese izakayas, which made it easy to grab a casual drink without any pressure. It's a good fit for visiting with friends or for a drink with coworkers after work. On a nice day, I'd recommend sitting on the terrace over indoors!

Reservations are only accepted before 7:30pm — after that, it's walk-ins only, so keep that in mind when planning your visit~

Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch menu lineup

Starting with Gobusi's signature motsunabe (offal hot pot), there's an assorted skewer selection plus various other skewers, and menus grouped well for group visits. They even had a cleverly labeled blind date/date menu section. The whole lineup is made up of dishes that are both tasty and pretty to eat haha.

As a weekday event, guests who visit Monday through Thursday before 6pm get free corkage for one bottle!

What I ordered: baby crab, cheese okonomiyaki, assorted skewers

I ordered a little bit of everything. Cheese okonomiyaki, assorted skewers, baby crab, and of course a highball is a must at an izakaya~

Baby crab tempura

I ordered this because it's not a dish you see often — salty with that signature crispy tempura texture fully intact, it made a great drinking snack. The outside was crispy, and the inside had that distinct crab flavor. The portion was pretty generous too.

Cheese okonomiyaki

The cheese okonomiyaki was thick with a truly massive portion — no wonder it's listed as a good pick for group orders. The size actually surprised me!

It's a dish I never skip when I go to an izakaya, and it paired perfectly as a drinking snack. Eating it with a highball is the ultimate truth! The portion was so generous I was completely stuffed haha.

Assorted skewers, seven kinds

You can't choose the types for the assorted skewers — they come randomly. That day we got chicken skin, heart, cheese-bacon roll, tamagoyaki (rolled egg), tomato bacon, chicken neck meat, and more.

You try each one and can order more of whatever you liked~

They also had tsukune (chicken meatball skewers) on the menu, so I ordered it — but Gobusi's tsukune tasted a bit different from what I was used to~ It had more of a sweet-and-salty, almost tonkatsu-like flavor, a special take unique to Gobusi.
