Seoul Station gyukatsu couple's lunch with Isigny butter: Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu (beef cutlet) restaurant on basement level 1 of the LG Seoul Station Building in Jung-gu, Seoul, 101m from Exit 10. Missing the gyukatsu she ate in Japan, the writer and her boyfriend ordered Set 1 (two sirloin gyukatsu plus two drinks) at 3,000 won off, and melting the Isigny butter on the brazier before the sirloin kept the meat from sticking and gave it a deeper flavor. With sliced mochi and grillable cheese from the review event, Ichigyu made for a satisfying Seoul Station lunch.

I got back from Japan not too long ago! And I kept thinking about the gyukatsu I had there... so I went to Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, perfect for a Seoul Station lunch, and honestly it was just as good as what I had in Japan.... 🤍

Where is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, and what are its hours?
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is at 98 Huam-ro, B116, Basement 1F, Jung-gu, Seoul, 101m from Exit 10 of Seoul Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:30.

Take the outdoor stairs of the LG Seoul Station Building down to B1 and you'll find this Seoul Station lunch spot, Ichigyu 🤍

From crispy-outside-juicy-inside gyukatsu to steak sets, hamburg omurice, yakisoba, and steak-don, there's a whole range of set meals, so it seems like a great lunch spot for office workers near Seoul Station.

How long is the wait, and what is the seating like?
I got in without waiting, but apparently this place usually has a line — that's how popular it is! Luckily, they use the Catch Table waitlist system, so waiting shouldn't be too much trouble 🤍

Inside, there are tables ranging from 2-seaters to 4-seaters, good for small groups or team dinners. The interior has a real Japanese feel, so it almost feels like you're in Japan!

Why the set menu is the better deal for two
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch has so many tasty options, from set menus to à la carte dishes, that it's hard to choose 🤍 But since the sets come with a decent discount, I'd recommend the set menu if you're visiting as a pair! 🤍

Every table has its own brazier, and rice comes out before the main gyukatsu arrives — and if you run out, refills are free 🤍! The rice was nice and fluffy, and it went really well with the clear soup.
Set 1 — sirloin gyukatsu + sirloin gyukatsu + 2 drinks

My boyfriend and I ordered Set 1 with two gyukatsu and two drinks, and with a whopping 3,000-won discount, how could we not go for the set?

What comes with the sirloin gyukatsu set at Ichigyu
Order the gyukatsu and it comes as a full set meal 🤍
- Sirloin gyukatsu
- Tangy salad
- Clear soup
- Pickled cabbage
- Butter
It's sirloin with a nutty, savory flavor, paired with Ichigyu's special sauce, which has a rich garlic aroma and a tangy kick!

Why you should melt the Isigny butter on the brazier first
They also serve Isigny butter, which people call the Hermès of butter, and you really need to put this butter down first and grill the gyukatsu on top of it — that way it doesn't stick, and the gyukatsu ends up with even deeper flavor 🤍

Ah, doesn't it look so good 🤍 The portion was generous too, plenty even for a grown man!

Grill it up like this and you're set! Personally I think cooking it a bit more makes the sirloin even softer and more tender — tastier that way? 🤍

Looks delicious just from the photo, right. This is on a totally different level from other gyukatsu places — deep, savory flavor and incredibly tender meat, that's Ichigyu. If you visit in the evening, ordering a draft beer alongside it would be perfect.

Sliced mochi and grillable cheese from the review event
I took part in the review event and got sliced mochi and grillable cheese on top 🤍 Grilling them together was so good,,

You should all join the review event too, and get to enjoy the tasty mochi and cheese on top!!

You get to taste this kind of nutty, stretchy cheese... 🤍
Is Ichigyu worth it for a Seoul Station lunch?
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is so easy to get to from Seoul Station, making it a perfect lunch pick if you're nearby or working around the area. It'd feel like a treat in the evening too, paired with a draft beer! A Seoul gyukatsu restaurant that's just as good as what I had in Japan — you should definitely check it out!!
