Jeongwang Station favorite: Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang A budget-friendly gamjatang review with a mountain of bean sprouts and a free steamed egg thrown in
These days, with the temperature swinging so much, or on days I'm especially tired, I find myself craving something hot and hearty. I was actually just planning a light dinner and wandering around Jeongwang Station when this place, Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang, caught my eye near the station and I wandered in.

I went in expecting something light and came out having eaten way more than expected, so here's an honest, no-frills review for anyone in the neighborhood or working nearby.
Where is Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang, and what are its hours?

The location is right along the row of shops directly across from Jeongwang Station on Line 4/Suin-Bundang Line, so accessibility was great. It's less than 3 minutes on foot from the station, making it perfect for stopping by for a meal after work, or grabbing a casual drink with a friend.

Coming out of Jeongwang Station Exit 1, you just cross one traffic light — the sign is big enough to spot from a distance, and the ₩5,000 takeout discount notice caught my eye too. I imagine that would be pretty handy for people living alone nearby who want to take food home.

Inside, the space was neat and tidy without excess clutter. It was clean and comfortable overall, the kind of atmosphere perfect for two people chatting over a meal.

What comes with the 29,000 won small Cheongchun Gamjatang for two?
The menu at Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang Jeongwang Station branch was pretty varied, from single-serving dishes like ppyeo-haejangguk (bone soup hangover stew) to bulbbyeojjim (spicy braised bone stew) and gamjatang. I was curious about the bulbbyeojjim too, but today was more of a soup kind of day, so I went with the Cheongchun Gamjatang small size (₩29,000).

Gyeranjjim (steamed egg) is essential with soup dishes, so I was about to add one as a side, but the owner laughed and told me it comes as a free side by default. Hearing that they'd throw it in for free warmed things up right from the start — this really felt like the kind of generosity you'd expect from a good-value gamjatang spot near Jeongwang Station.

How does the bean-sprout-piled gamjatang taste?
When the gamjatang arrived a bit later, I couldn't help but gasp at the sight of it. I had clearly ordered the small size, but it came out in a huge hot pot piled sky-high with bean sprouts and enoki mushrooms.

Usually when I think of gamjatang, ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves) come to mind, but here it was loaded with bean sprouts and more than three pork spine pieces, which got me expecting a richer, cleaner-tasting broth. For two people to eat this much for around ₩20,000-something, this really was a proper budget-friendly gamjatang.

While waiting for the hot pot to boil, the stone pot gyeranjjim arrived. It was soft and pillowy without being too salty or artificial-tasting — perfect for warming up an empty stomach before the main dish.

Wrapping a piece of tender meat together with crisp-cooked bean sprouts and siraegi (dried radish greens), then dipping it in mustard sauce, gave a great textural balance. The broth wasn't greasy or heavy — it was rich yet spicy with a clean finish, the kind that keeps you reaching for another spoonful.

Why an extra bowl of rice is a must at Cheongchun
After picking through the meat and vegetables, the deeply developed broth flavor eventually made me add a bowl of rice. Topping freshly steamed white rice with a thick piece of meat and eating it alongside kimchi, then later piling the rice with rich broth and siraegi and mixing it all together, left me completely full and satisfied. It really confirmed that rice is what completes a stew or hot pot dish.

Dinner for two under 30,000 won near Jeongwang Station: is it worth it?
These days a meal out for two often blows past ₩30,000–40,000, but here, for ₩29,000, we got a mountain of meat and vegetables, a free gyeranjjim, and an added bowl of rice, and walked out fully satisfied. It didn't taste like a place relying on aggressive seasoning — it felt like the ingredients were used generously and simmered with care, so my stomach felt comfortable even after eating my fill.
This is a Jeongwang Station favorite worth recommending to office workers or locals near Jeongwang Station looking for a hearty, budget-friendly meal. As it gets colder, I think I'll be back craving this hot, good-value gamjatang, and next time I definitely want to try the spicy bulbbyeojjim.
