Songridan-gil bar in Seoul for ₩8,000 fried chicken: Jojomomo

In short

Jojomomo is a Korean cooking bar (yori jujeom) on the B1 level of Ogeum-ro 11-gil in Songpa, Seoul, sitting between Songridan-gil and Bangi Food Alley. With the braised pork sold out, the order became a side-dish spread of tuna mukeunji (aged kimchi) rolls, ₩8,000 boneless fried chicken, warm anchovy noodles and pollock roe cheese potato pancake, plus a welcome glass of ginseng wine, a pick-your-own glass and nurungji (scorched rice) ice cream to finish. Jojomomo suits anyone near Jamsil who wants to enjoy food and atmosphere quietly rather than in a loud crowd.

Looking for a Bangi bar with decent vibes near Songridan-gil, I stumbled on Jojomomo (조조모모) 🍶

Entrance leading down to the basement-level Jojomomo near Songridan-gil

The stairway down was so cute and detailed, and there was already a wait on the weekend. I put my name on CatchTable and got in pretty fast.

I liked this place the moment I walked in — every dish's plating is pretty, and you can tell they put real thought into the food.

Braised pork sold out at Jojomomo, so the order became a side-dish party

My friend, a Jamsil native, told me this place is famous for its braised pork (suyuk), but unfortunately it was sold out ㅠ So we had a little side-dish party instead 💛🧡

We first ordered tuna mukeunji roll (aged kimchi wrapped around tuna and rice), boneless fried chicken, and warm anchovy noodles.

Pick your own drinking glass and a welcome glass of ginseng wine

One small but cute detail at Jojomomo: you get to pick your own drinking glass 🍻 There are cute glasses of different styles, so it's fun for each table to choose whichever one they like. If you're into that kind of detail, you'll love this.

Assorted glasses you can choose from yourself

And the basic side dish was so thoughtful — potato salad you're meant to pile onto crackers, perfect for picking at before the drinks arrive. The welcome glass of ginseng wine they poured for us was a really nice touch too.

Tuna mukeunji roll: why the end piece goes first

Let me introduce the dishes that came out quickly. First up, the tuna mukeunji roll (아age kimchi tuna roll) 🐟! Isn't the plating pretty? The tangy, crunchy aged kimchi paired with tuna makes for a great drinking snack.

For this dish, claiming the end piece matters. The rice is really thick, and the tuna tends to be concentrated at the end pieces haha. If you're going with a group, grab the end piece first…! Consider this your tip 😎

The aged kimchi itself has a strong flavor, but eaten with the savory tuna it goes down clean without feeling greasy — it paired really well with soju too.

₩8,000 boneless fried chicken with cheese sauce: the value surprise

🍗 Boneless fried chicken. Honestly the dish that surprised me most in terms of value — it's only ₩8,000 but the pieces are huge haha. Given the price, I expected a simple side dish with a few small bites, but the size was legit — hard to believe it's ₩8,000.

The outside is crispy enough to scrape the roof of your mouth, and inside there's a generous, juicy chunk of meat — delicious even plain. They also serve it with a cheese sauce, so dipping it gives you a whole different flavor to enjoy.

Warm anchovy noodles: what makes the basics taste solid

🍜 Warm anchovy noodles. This is the dish that made me feel like this place has real fundamentals. Visually, it's not loaded with fancy toppings. But the broth is genuinely spicy and delicious. The clean flavor typical of anchovy noodle broth, plus that added kick, made it perfect for sipping between drinks.

Rather than throwing in lots of flashy ingredients, it felt like they focused on nailing the broth itself, which I loved. It's not just the flashy dishes that taste good here — even a basic dish like this is done well, which told me this is a place that gets the fundamentals right. Having a hot, spicy spoonful of broth mid-drink really clears your head haha.

Adding the pollock roe cheese potato pancake and its sauces

And since we're a bunch of pork-loving friends, we added the pollock roe cheese potato pancake… 🥔 Pollock roe cheese potato pancake looks delicious even just from the plating. The savory, chewy texture typical of potato pancake, plus the salty pollock roe and cheese, made it a perfect drinking snack.

Each dish came with a different sauce — garlic dip, cheese sauce, and more — and since the same dish tastes different depending on which sauce you dip it in, it's great for a group to share and try different combinations. Even this small detail was well thought out, and it made me feel like every dish was made with real care. So touched… 🥹

Finishing with nurungji (scorched rice) ice cream

Really the last thing hahahaha, nurungji (scorched rice) ice cream 🍨

Nurungji ice cream dessert

The sweet ice cream with the nutty combo of nurungji and injeolmi (sweet rice cake powder) is the best!! Great value too, so I left really satisfied. A perfect way to end the meal.

Who should visit Jojomomo in Songpa?

And what I liked most about Jojomomo was that the owner was genuinely, genuinely kind! There are plenty of good bars these days, but when the food is good and the service is kind too, that's what stays with you. They carefully explained the menu, checked in on what we needed, and I could feel they were paying attention to us the whole time.

So rather than a loud, crowded bar, it felt more like a place to sit quietly, actually enjoy the food, and take in the atmosphere — which I liked even more. If you're looking for a good vibe bar in Jamsil-Bangi, I highly recommend Jojomomo 🩷
