Seokchon Lake gukbap restaurant, weekend dinner sets for two: Boseung
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (Korean soup) restaurant on Ogeum-ro in Songpa, Seoul, right across from Seokchon Lake. On a weekend evening visit the spicy sundae gukbap set and the boiled pork gukbap set each arrived with pork jowl on the side, so two people could share both easily. Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch works best as the first stop on an evening that ends with a walk around Seokchon Lake.

On a day when I wanted a solid meal in Jamsil, I stopped by Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, which sits right in front of Seokchon Lake.
I love gukbap (Korean soup with rice) and always keep an eye out for good spots whenever I'm in Jamsil, and the spicy sundae gukbap set and pork gukbap set I had this time were more satisfying than I expected.

If you're hunting for a good gukbap restaurant in Jamsil, this is a place I'd recommend as a course — eat, then walk around Seokchon Lake afterward.

What stood out especially was the wide menu, which made it easy to pick something whether you're eating solo, with family, or grabbing dinner with friends.
What comes with a set meal at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch?

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch has a wide range of meal options like sundae gukbap, pork gukbap and bone hangover soup. There are also dishes that pair well with drinks, like assorted boiled meat, sundae-gopchang hot pot and bone gamjatang, so it also looked like a fine spot for dinner or a casual drinking session.

We ordered the spicy sundae gukbap set and the pork gukbap set. What I liked is that the set meals aren't just the soup — they come with pork jowl boiled meat too, so you get to try several things at once.

It felt much more filling than just ordering the soup alone, so I think it would suit anyone looking for a hearty meal.
How do the spicy sundae gukbap and boiled pork gukbap sets taste?

I usually go for spicy broths, so I picked the spicy sundae gukbap set, and from the first spoonful the sharp kick of chili came through. Unlike broths that are just plain spicy, the deep soup flavor came first and the heat followed after, so the rice kept disappearing naturally.
The pork gukbap had a really generous amount of lean meat in it. You could choose whether to add the chili paste (dadaegi) or not when ordering.
There was also quite a lot of sundae (Korean blood sausage) and various types of offal inside. I've had sundae gukbap elsewhere before where the fillings were disappointingly sparse, but here every spoonful came up with sundae or offal, which was satisfying.

I kept spooning up the broth too, and before I knew it I'd finished a whole bowl of rice in no time. If you're after sundae gukbap in Bangi-dong, I'd especially recommend this to anyone who likes their broth on the spicy side.

Pork jowl plus two kinds of kimchi
The pork jowl boiled meat that came with the set meal was even tastier than I expected. I put chives on top of the meat and dipped it in mustard sauce — the savory flavor of the pork went really well with the tangy kick of the mustard.

Two kinds of kimchi came out too, which was nice for alternating bites. We got kkakdugi and geotjeori, and the geotjeori was definitely the tastier one haha — it went really well with the gukbap.

If we'd only eaten the gukbap the whole time it might have felt a bit monotonous partway through, but with the boiled meat and kimchi alongside, I didn't get tired of it even by the end. If two people are going together, I think it's a good idea to order different set meals and share.
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch location and weekend evening wait

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is right in front of Seokchon Lake in Jamsil, so it wasn't hard to find. It's also fairly easy to get to from Jamsil Station, making it convenient for lunch or dinner.

The day I went was a weekend evening, and the place was already full, so I had to wait a bit. At first I wondered if it would be a long wait, but since it's a gukbap restaurant, tables turned over quickly and I got seated sooner than expected.

Even while we were eating, customers kept streaming in, which gave the impression this is a popular gukbap spot in Bangi-dong.
Verdict: gukbap dinner, then a walk around Seokchon Lake

It was full on the weekend evening and busy with customers, but the quick table turnover kept it from feeling overwhelming. Getting to eat warm gukbap along with a generous serving of boiled meat, I could see why so many people come here.
What stuck with me most, though, was walking around Seokchon Lake right after the meal. In the past, whenever I came to Jamsil I'd eat and then just move on elsewhere, but this time, after eating my fill of hot gukbap, taking a slow walk around Seokchon Lake made the whole evening course quite satisfying.

If you're craving a hearty bowl of gukbap in Jamsil, or looking for a good lunch spot near Jamsil Station, I'd recommend giving Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch a try. It was especially satisfying on a day when I wanted to enjoy everything from spicy sundae gukbap to boiled meat in one sitting.
