I've been so into lamb lately‼️‼️ I heard there was a great lamb place in Jeongja-dong, Bundang, so I went to check out Nokji (녹지), a Jeongja-dong grill restaurant. Here's the story of how I fell for not just the meat but the atmosphere and the service too✏️

I looked over the beef menu and the lamb menu at Nokji, a restaurant near Jeongja Station, and what I ordered.

An antique-feel exterior — this is Nokji, the Jeongja-dong grill restaurant✨

Nokji specializes in beef and lamb❗ And as a specialist should, it's a place where the quality of the meat and the service really stood out👏

A cozy bar table, booked in advance

The interior isn't huge! Which makes the space feel all the cozier and warmer. Perfect for an anniversary visit in Jeongja-dong✔️ Since it's a snug space, everyone seemed to book before coming. I'd recommend reserving through CatchTable before you visit⭐ They said phone reservations are possible too-!☎️

I booked ahead too, and they had the bar table set up and ready for me. I loved the bar-table vibe☺️

French rack and lamb rib meat, grilled for you

I ordered one serving each of the French rack and the lamb rib meat (yanggalbitsal), plus pollock roe scallion rice (myeongnan pabap). Prices are ₩34,000 / ₩32,000 / ₩6,000.

I went with lamb, and wow.... the meat quality looked incredible🐑 They said they only use high-quality chilled meat, and it really did stand out‼️

Grilling service, done for you

At Nokji, the staff grill everything themselves, so I didn't have to worry about a thing. They started with the French rack🔥

The staff look after each piece for you, one by one, which makes this a Jeongja-dong grill restaurant that's great for anniversaries or special days⭐️ An expert's touch really is something else haha

Even before eating, the smell of the lamb had me drooling. Not a hint of that gamey lamb smell while it grilled👏👏 Sitting at the bar table, it was fun watching it all happen right in front of me.

They rest every piece of meat too. Definitely an upscale Jeongja-dong grill restaurant.

〰️Lamb grilled that way, bursting with juices〰️

Once grilled, the lamb and vegetables were placed on a personal brazier so I could eat them warm to the very end🔥 A bite of perfectly grilled French rack, right away-!

I tried it first dipped in salt and it just melted in my mouth... The moment I took a bite, an involuntary “Mmm....!” came out❣️❣️

It's fun trying all sorts of combinations, but the meat itself is so good that the lamb on its own is delicious‼️‼️‼️

They also grilled the meat that was on the rib bones. Eating it with minari (water dropwort) made it even tastier💚

Lamb with pollock roe scallion rice

That pollock roe looks amazing-!

In between, let's try the pollock roe scallion rice too❗️

There's a heap of pollock roe on top, but it's low-salt roe, so it wasn't salty at all — the seasoning was just right. It goes so well alongside the meat.... I recommend ordering the pollock roe scallion rice👍

The Suntory draft beer I had in between was, true to Suntory draft, so smooth....🍺 Nokji, near Jeongja Station, has not just beer but traditional distilled liquor, sake, wine, highballs and more, all great alongside the delicious beef and lamb🍷 On top of that, Nokji lets you bring one bottle corkage-free, so I definitely recommend having a drink with your meal⭐

While I was eating the French rack, they grilled the lamb rib meat right away🔥 The rib meat was also grilled for me and then finished with a rest👏👏

〰️Thick-cut lamb rib meat, still juicy〰️ I was already blown away by the French rack, so my expectations were high before the first bite🤤 First bite with salt, of course👏 Tender lamb rib meat with no gaminess, as expected.

They also served mashed potatoes at this point, which I ate with the lamb👍

Delicious right down to the last bite

That was Nokji, a Jeongja-dong grill restaurant with private service in an atmospheric space🙌 The lamb grilled right before my eyes left a real impression💚 They kindly explained every single side dish, which felt like being at an omakase. It made the meal taste even better✨✨
