Olympic Park date lunch at a Songpa monkfish stew restaurant: Ttoksuni

In short

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch is a monkfish stew (agujjim) restaurant on Wiryeseong-daero, directly across from Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul. On a weekday lunch visit, the writer and her husband ordered the small agujjim for two at 48,000 won in the basic spicy level, which came with perilla seaweed soup, japchae and other side dishes, followed by freshly popped mini rice puffs and plum juice. Ttoksuni Agujjim works well as a date course that leads straight into a walk through Olympic Park.

Today I went with my husband to Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil main branch, since I wanted plump, meaty monkfish stew and figured we could squeeze in a date at Olympic Park too. The agujjim (spicy braised monkfish) was delicious, but what I loved was how full the whole meal flowed — from the side dishes to the instant rice puffs and plum juice made right at the table. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an Olympic Park date spot or a family dinner spot in Jamsil. It's already a famous restaurant in Gangseo-gu, and the moment it opened in Jamsil, it got popular fast.

Inside Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil: exterior, mood and table spacing

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch faces Olympic Park directly, so it caught my eye while passing by.

In Gangseo, it's already famous as a monkfish stew place people line up for, so hearing you could get it in Jamsil too was great news as an agujjim fan.

Seating with wide table spacing

Even on a weekday lunch, the hall was packed with people eating agujjim, and the table spacing was fairly generous. They said it's a popular Olympic Park date spot in Jamsil, but also a menu everyone likes regardless of age, so it's often used for family meals and company dinners too.

Ttoksuni Agujjim has an impressive Korean-cuisine master's plaque and various awards on display, which made me even more curious about the taste! On the wall were pops for meaty agujjim, raw monkfish sujeuk, and fried roe agujjim — I'll have to try the fried roe agujjim next time.

Interior with a traditional feel

The interior was clean yet had a traditional feel, giving off that Jamsil-famous-restaurant vibe.

Table setting and side dishes at Ttoksuni Agujjim

At Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch, every table comes with a small plate, water bottle, paper cups, wet wipes, and even an apron. The side dishes could be taken as much as needed. It's rare these days for a restaurant to include japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), so getting to eat delicious japchae too was a nice surprise.

The fridge was stocked with cold drinks and alcohol, and they served us barley-tea-like water that was refreshing. The basic side dish, perilla seaweed soup, had a strong perilla oil aroma and great flavor, plus a generous portion — perfect alongside the agujjim! Japchae, braised tofu, dried radish green namul, seaweed namul, and water kimchi came out too, so there was plenty of variety to enjoy with rice.

Ttoksuni Agujjim menu and prices

  • Agujjim (small) ₩48,000
  • Agujjim with monkfish roe (small) ₩49,000
  • Meaty agujjim (small) ₩49,000
  • Master's aged kimchi agujjim (small) ₩50,000
  • Seafood agujjim (small) ₩65,000
  • Baekjjim (mild white agujjim) ₩45,000
  • Nakji deopbap (octopus rice bowl, 2+ people, weekdays) ₩13,000

The menu is quite varied, so I listed the small-size prices — but medium and large sizes exist too. Even within agujjim, you can pick your favorite based on preference — roe, aged kimchi, seafood — which gave a nice range of choices. On weekdays they also run a nakji deopbap menu, which seemed like a good lunch option for office workers near Olympic Park in Jamsil.

What is the 48,000 won agujjim for two like at basic spice level?

The agujjim for two (small) is ₩48,000. The dish, piled high with bean sprouts, looked great and gave off a savory yet spicy aroma.

You can adjust the spice level, so we tried the basic spicy setting — it wasn't too spicy, and the heat didn't taste artificial, which suited both my husband's and my palate.

Picking up monkfish meat and bean sprouts

The plump, crunchy bean sprouts were piled generously and had good texture alongside the monkfish meat, and the fresh seafood varieties made it fun to try one bite at a time.

Seafood in the agujjim

There was a fried rice option too, but the sauce on the agujjim was so good that we just ordered regular steamed rice — and were surprised to find it was multigrain rice.

Dipping the agujjim into the cutely named Ttoksuni nuruk soy sauce was such a good pairing that I ended up eating even more.

Freshly popped mini rice puffs and plum juice after the meal

At the counter of Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch, there was a curious little mini rice-puff machine — you could watch the puffs pop right in front of you, and being freshly made, the nuttiness was on another level.

Finishing with cold plum tea as dessert was great — full from the agujjim and refreshed on top of it, a perfect way to end the meal.

It'd also be a nice touch to buy a bag of the rice puffs to take home for the kids.

Verdict: is Ttoksuni Agujjim a good Olympic Park date course?

Ttoksuni Agujjim, the Jamsil monkfish stew spot I visited with my husband on an Olympic Park date. The agujjim itself was delicious, but I also loved getting to enjoy the various side dishes, perilla seaweed soup, and nuruk soy sauce alongside it, plus the instant rice puffs and plum juice at the end made for a satisfying finish all around.

Best of all, being right in front of Olympic Park means it's a great location to follow the meal with a walk in the park, which made it a solid date course. The table spacing was generous enough for a couple visit, but it also looked comfortable for family dinners. If you're craving spicy agujjim in Jamsil or looking for somewhere to eat near Olympic Park, give Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch a try!
