Jamsil cheat day sandwich restaurant with 15-a-day pastrami: Daily Fix

I've been trying pretty hard to diet lately. Even when eating out with the kids, I've held back as much as I could — but one day I suddenly wanted a burger so badly. So this one day, cheat day!

I went to Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga, located in the basement of Jangmi Sangga in Jamsil. I found it while looking for a good Jamsil burger spot, and decided this would be the day I really let loose.

But when I actually got there to eat a burger, something else caught my eye instead — the pastrami sandwich, limited to just 15 a day. I've always loved meat-heavy sandwiches like jambon-beurre, and I'd never had a pastrami sandwich before, so since I was already there, I figured I'd try something new.

Spoiler: the pastrami sandwich was delicious, and I polished off the onion rings too, so my diet was completely forgotten that day haha.

Finding Daily Fix in the Jangmi Sangga basement

Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga, a well-known Jamsil burger spot, sits in Basement 1, Unit 13 of Jangmi Sangga Building B. The basement of Jangmi Sangga is packed with old, established eateries, so at lunchtime it gets absolutely crowded with office workers.

I'd passed by around lunch a few times before and seen how packed it gets, but this time I visited well past the lunch rush, in that in-between hour, so the place was fairly quiet overall.

A New York diner-style burger shop in Jamsil

The interior mixes yellow tones with wood, so it really stands out amid the old-school vibe of Jangmi Sangga. Since I visited during a quiet time, I could take photos of the interior comfortably and eat at a relaxed pace.

There's a bar table as well as larger tables that fit several people, so it works well whether you're eating alone or with friends.

While I was eating, people who seemed to work in Jangmi Sangga kept coming in for meals, and honestly, seeing local workers keep walking in like this makes a place feel like even more of a genuine neighborhood favorite haha.

Delivery orders kept coming in too — I saw a rider pick up packaged food at one point.

The Daily Fix menu: burgers, sandwiches and sides

Daily Fix, the Jamsil burger spot, serves handmade burgers made with 100% Korean beef patties, but it's not just burgers — the side menu is varied too, with sandwiches, fries, onion rings, chicken, and more.

Cheeseburgers start at ₩8,900, and there are plenty of options: bacon cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, triple cheeseburger, classic burger, chicken burger, truffle mushroom burger. So according to my original plan, I was supposed to leave with a proper Jamsil burger that day too.

Pastrami sandwich, ₩15,900 and limited to 15 a day

The pastrami sandwich is a limited item at Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga — only 15 sold per day. Pastrami might sound a little unfamiliar, but think of it as New York deli-style meat: beef that's been cured, coated in spices, then smoked.

Daily Fix's pastrami sandwich is a ciabatta sandwich filled with beef brisket that's cured for 72 hours and then smoked. It's a menu item I don't often get to try, and as someone who loves a meat-packed sandwich, I just couldn't pass it up.

It's not exactly the same as jambon-beurre, but since I love that kind of meat-centered sandwich so much, I had a feeling it would suit my taste.

And when it actually arrived, it was quite big and hefty. There was so much meat packed between the ciabatta that it was spilling out the sides.

Taking a bite, what I liked most was that it wasn't as salty as I expected. The thinly sliced pastrami wasn't overpoweringly salty — it was soft, with a deep meaty flavor.

Above all, it was absolutely loaded with meat, which made it hugely satisfying for a carnivore like me. Every mouthful is packed with meat, but it's tender, so it's not overwhelming.

Why the pickled cabbage makes the pastrami sandwich

With this much meat, it could have gotten a bit greasy, but there's tangy pickled cabbage tucked inside. It paired surprisingly well with the pastrami — the crunchy texture and bright flavor balanced out the richness of the meat, so even though it's a huge sandwich, you keep reaching for another bite.

The bread is ciabatta, and I liked that it wasn't too chewy or hard — it had a soft bite. It looks pretty rustic and heavy from the outside, but once you actually eat it, the combination of meat, tangy cabbage, and plain ciabatta works so well that it's less heavy than you'd expect.

Of course, given the amount of meat, it's definitely not a light menu item haha. When I first got it, I thought, 'Can I really finish all this?' — but it was so good I finished it in no time lol.

Onion rings at ₩7,400: a must-order

And the dish that really lit the fire on this cheat day was the onion rings, ₩7,400. Honestly, I like onion rings way more than fries. So ordering just the pastrami sandwich felt like it wasn't quite enough, and I added onion rings too.

At first I thought I'd just taste a few and pack the rest to go. That was the plan... and then before I knew it, the plate was empty haha.

The onions are wonderfully sweet and soft. The outside is crispy while the onion inside is sweet and almost melts, so you keep eating one after another. On top of that, they're sprinkled with a spicy, salty seasoning, so they're plenty flavorful even without dipping.

They come with a hot ketchup sauce by default, but they were tasty even without it. This is completely a personal preference thing, but since I usually like sweeter sauces, next time I'd like to try dipping them in plain tomato ketchup instead of the hot version. I think sweet onions with regular ketchup would go really well together too.

Free cola refills at Daily Fix

Eating my way through the sandwich and onion rings, of course a cola was essential. Especially with a meat-packed dish like pastrami and crispy onion rings, taking a sip of cold cola in between is just so good. And since the cola comes with free refills, I could drink as much as I wanted without worrying.

If you asked whether I'm really on a diet, I'd say not that day haha. If I'd just had the pastrami sandwich, that would've been more or less fine, but finishing the onion rings too made it a proper cheat day. Diet resumes tomorrow!

A Jamsil Jangmi Sangga restaurant that takes Onnuri gift certificates

I also liked that Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga, being a shop inside Jangmi Sangga, accepts Onnuri gift certificates. I have some leftover Onnuri certificates I bought a while back, and I figured I could use them up little by little on future visits here haha.

For parking, you can use the Jangmi Sangga parking lot, and the restaurant is within walking distance of Jamsilnaru Station, so it's fairly accessible. Delivery and takeout are also available, which seems handy for times when dining in isn't an option.

Would I go back to Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga?

I went looking for burgers as a bit of a cheat-day treat and ended up at Daily Fix Jangmi Sangga, a well-known Jamsil burger spot. I originally planned to have a handmade burger, but while browsing the menu, the pastrami sandwich — limited to 15 a day — caught my eye, so I gave it a try.

I usually love meat-packed sandwiches like jambon-beurre, so I had high expectations, and trying pastrami sandwich for the first time turned out to suit my taste even more than I expected. Above all, the meat was so generous that every bite delivered real meaty flavor, and it wasn't overly salty — just soft and easy to eat without feeling heavy.

On top of that, the tangy pickled cabbage added crunch and balanced out the richness of the meat, so I never got tired of it, even to the last bite. At first I thought the size might mean leftovers, but I ended up finishing it in no time haha.

The pastrami sandwich was so satisfying this time that next cheat day, I'd like to finally try the handmade burger I originally came for.
