Weekday burger comparison: Hawaiian vs Double at Base Burger Gwanggyo

Craving a burger today~ Somehow I wanted both burgers and pizza haha. After a quick internal debate I went with the stronger craving: burgers! I remembered Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch, a place I'd been wanting to try for a while, and headed straight there. Just thinking about a good burger puts me in a good mood lol.

I drove there and parked on B2, then walked up. I was worried it might be hard to find since Avenue France is so big, but it turned out to be easy to spot right near the entrance.

Avenue France always feels a bit like a foreign street to me, so it's fun just to walk around and look haha. Since I went on a weekday, it wasn't crowded and had a nice relaxed vibe overall.

Store atmosphere and kiosk ordering

Once you walk inside, there's a kiosk near the entrance for self-ordering. There were quite a lot of menu options, so at first I was a little unsure what to pick!

Still, you can take your time browsing the photos and choose sides or sauces to your taste, so the ordering process was convenient. The interior was clean too — good for a date, and not awkward if you're coming alone!

It also seemed like a solid pick for anyone looking for a Gwanggyo Cafe Street restaurant where you can eat quietly.

Free potato chips at the self bar

After ordering and getting my buzzer, I went to the self bar while waiting. There were free potato chips set out, so you can grab some before the burgers even arrive. They were crunchy and salty, and once I started eating I couldn't stop reaching for more!

I also liked that you could take as much ketchup and sauce as you needed. Sometimes you run out of ketchup halfway through a burger, so being able to grab as much as you want was surprisingly handy. Munching on chips while waiting, my buzzer went off pretty quickly.

Base Burger taste review

Hawaiian Burger

First up, the Hawaiian Burger! It has a beef patty, real cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, bacon, and pineapple slices. One bite in and the pineapple's sweet-tart flavor came through clearly between bites of the savory patty.

Thanks to the pineapple, it tasted a bit different from a typical handmade burger! It looked a little small at first glance, but the fillings were generous enough that it was plenty filling after eating. The Hawaiian Burger seems like a good option if you're looking for something to eat on Gwanggyo Cafe Street.

Double Base Burger

The Double Base Burger comes with two beef patties! It was packed with real cheddar cheese, house sauce, lettuce, onion, and tomato too.

Compared to the Hawaiian Burger, the patty presence was definitely much stronger. One bite in and I really liked the heavy, meaty flavor from the two beef patties.

The onion, tomato, and other vegetables crunching in between bites helped cut the richness too, so the balance was decent.

Which one should you pick?

Comparing them myself, the Hawaiian Burger wins for a sweet, distinctive flavor, while the Double Base Burger wins for meaty richness and a filling size. If I wanted to eat a proper meal on a hungry day, I think I'd pick the Double Base Burger again!

Overall thoughts on Base Burger

Since it was fairly relaxed on the weekday I visited, I'd recommend a weekday visit too if you want to eat somewhere quiet.

Trying both burgers myself, their styles were different enough that comparing them was fun, and above all, the self bar with free potato chips while waiting really stuck with me haha.

Even just one burger was filling enough for a full meal, and with so many menu and side options, I could easily come back and try a different combination next time!
