Post-work hangover soup at a Suwon Korean restaurant: Jeju Eunhuine

Things have been so hectic lately with wedding-invitation meetups, and we always end up having Western-style food at them, so I’d been desperately craving a hot, comforting bowl of Korean soup for days. Hahaha ㅠㅠ Western food is delicious, and it really is perfect for those meetups, but after having it several days in a row, there was no getting around that greasy feeling in my stomach. Hahaha ㅠㅠ

I literally needed a hangover cure, so while looking for a great hangover-soup spot, I found Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch (제주은희네해장국 수원인계점). Actually, it wasn’t my first time at Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk, haha. I’d fallen for it after trying it both on Jeju Island and at another branch on the mainland, but I had no idea one had opened in Suwon—Ingye-dong, no less!

I wonder if you all know Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk. It’s seriously so good!! (Even my gukbap-loving boyfriend approves of this soup-rice spot ★☆) Anyway, after work I dragged my fiancé along and we went for a proper hangover-soup feast!!

Parking at Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch

Anyone who lives in Suwon or has spent some time in Ingye-dong (near Suwon City Hall Station) will definitely know this: parking here is really hard. Parking fees are expensive, and there just aren’t many places to parkㅠ Even though we live in Maetan-dong, we can’t bring the car to Ingye-dong and end up walking more than 20 minutes. Hahahahaha

I’m the type to walk rather than deal with parking stress, but here!!! Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch has plenty of parking spaces, and it’s free. Haha. I may be exaggerating a little, but if you park somewhere else without parking support, you could probably spend the price of this hangover soup on parking fees. (Not quite a whole bowl—maybe half a bowl’s worth, haha.) Being able to park in Ingye-dong is a huge, huge plus ♥

Weekday evening interior and ordering

We arrived around 7:30–8:00 p.m. on a weekday. At first it seemed quiet, but while we were sitting and eating, quite a few customers came in. Still, the interior is spacious, there are lots of seats, and it feels comfortable, so I don’t think you’d have to wait on a weekday evening. Haha. (I haven’t been at lunch, so I don’t knowㅠ)

Tablet ordering and menu

You can conveniently order and pay right at your table on a tablet. Since “haejangguk (hangover soup)” is right there in the restaurant name, the menu is pretty simple too—and you know places like that are often the truly delicious ones.

But honestly, I was too focused on eating and only photographed the tablet home screen, not the actual menu... hahaha. So I’m substituting the menu image listed on Naver. The tablet home screen also has the Wi-Fi password and details of the review event (a drink, seonjitang, or a tasting portion of seasoned omasum), so keep that in mind!

For the same reason I didn’t photograph the menu, I ordered in a hurry because I was hungry and then wolfed everything down, so I only realized while writing this that there was such a generous review event... hahaha. Personally, since this is a hangover-soup restaurant and the soups are already the main dishes, I’ll gently put in my two cents and say the tasting seasoned omasum would be the best review-event choice, haha.

One hangover soup and one tripe soup

There were two of us, so we ordered one of each. Haha. I’d always only had the hangover soup, so it was nice to be able to order the tripe soup too when there were two of us. I basically forced it on my boyfriend, and then used my “just one bite” privilege ^.^ haha

This is the basic table setting! That kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) is really delicious. Haha.

They thoughtfully have aprons ready, and extra bowls of rice are free~~~ I think that would be especially great for men with big appetites!

Top — hangover soup Bottom — tripe soup They came out so quickly, almost like fast food.

Starting with my boyfriend’s tripe soup (which I forced him to get), you can already see how substantial it is, right? It is absolutely packed with tripe.

I stole a few bites, and the tripe had absolutely no unpleasant smell, wasn’t too chewy, and was so delicious. Haha. There was a lot of it too!

And this is the hangover soup, haha. This was my choice because I really, really needed to recover from all that Western food.

The basic hangover soup is loaded with beef and seonji (coagulated ox blood), so I dipped them generously into the seasoning sauce that came with it. The sauce wasn’t overly salty, so even dipping generously, it was delicious and not too salty. Haha.

And before I knew it, my ttukbaegi (earthenware pot) was empty ^.^ Yes, I’m usually a small eater, you know? This really is the kind of great place that makes you finish every last drop. I’m jealous of the office workers near Suwon City Hall Station. Having such a solid hangover-soup spot nearby... if it were me, I’d probably go for lunch once a week, haha ㅠ

For reference, both the hangover soup and tripe soup come with dadegi (spicy seasoning paste) already mixed in!
