Hyangdong gomtang restaurant with a free toddler meal: Doonjeong

If you're looking for a solid place to eat in Hyangdong, I'd strongly recommend Doonjeong. There's roadside parking right in front, and since it's on the Hyangdong restaurant street, parking nearby is easy too. It's been a Blue Ribbon Survey pick for two years running, 2025 and 2026, so you really won't regret trusting it and stopping by!

Inside there are about 10 tables, and the overall vibe was really tidy and clean. It's a bit dim inside, which also makes it great for an evening dinner with family paired with boiled pork and a drink 😊

"A bowl that delivers warmth." I visited on a weekday evening, and there were lots of families dining, plus quite a few other guests with babies like me. The clean interior and the friendly staff made this a place I want to keep coming back to.

Doonjeong menu and prices

Doonjeong specializes in beef gomtang, with a choice of spicy or clear broth. You can also choose the amount and cut of meat: regular, special, tendon, or brisket.

Tables with families ordered a lot of boiled pork and beef hot pot too!

There's also a wide range of drinks, so it seems great to pair a light drink with the gomtang and boiled pork. The clean, quiet atmosphere makes it a lovely setting for good food and a drink~

Two kinds of side dishes come standard, diced radish kimchi and cabbage kimchi, and even these look clean and appetizing, don't they?

At Doonjeong we ordered clear beef gomtang special for ₩16,000, clear beef gomtang brisket for ₩18,000, and meat and chive pancake for ₩17,000. The gomtang for my 34-month-old was thrown in for free.

Moms in Hyangdong, you have to go to Doonjeong!! They gave us gomtang for our child on the house, complete with rice, broth, and meat, and she ate a whole bowl happily. I eat out a lot with my 34-month-old, and places that even have a baby menu are rare, let alone ones that give it for free, so I was extra grateful 🥹👍🏻

Clear beef gomtang, special: 16,000 won

I ordered the clear beef gomtang special. The special has more meat than the regular, packed with tender brisket and lean flank, so it felt really filling. Unlike typical gomtang places, the broth isn't milky white — it's clear, more like a galbitang (short rib soup).

The rice is warmed toreom-style, tucked under the meat, so it stays warm right until you finish the meal, which I really loved. The clear gomtang broth is already seasoned, clean and light, with the deep flavor of the beef lingering pleasantly.

Eating it with the excellent kimchi makes for a really satisfying meal.

Clear beef gomtang with brisket: 18,000 won

This is the clear beef gomtang with brisket, piled high with tender, savory brisket. My husband loves gukbap and gomtang and has tried it in plenty of places, but it was hard to find another spot in Hyangdong as generous with the meat as Doonjeong.

Meat and chive pancake: 17,000 won

The meat and chive pancake had an amazing crispy texture. The chive aroma comes through gently, and it's packed with meat inside, so every bite had this savory richness that was genuinely delicious!!

Doonjeong, the Hyangdong favorite with its clean, tidy atmosphere and satisfying beef gomtang. If you're looking for a comfortable place to eat with your kid, save Doonjeong, where they'll even take care of the baby rice, and go pay a visit!
