Two highballs and chicken skewers at a Yeongdeungpo izakaya: Nani

I was looking for somewhere in Yeongdeungpo to enjoy good drinking snacks with a drink in the evening, and that's how I ended up at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch 🍻 These days I prefer ordering a few tasty side dishes and chatting slowly over drinks rather than just eating a meal. I meant to keep it light this time too, but ended up ordering more than I planned.

Where is Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch, and what is it like inside?

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is 573m from Exit 5 of Yeongdeungpo Station, on the 1st floor at 183 Munnae-ro. The vibe was already good before even stepping inside, so I snapped a photo. It felt like a great spot to meet up and have dinner with drinks in Yeongdeungpo!

Stepping inside, the overall atmosphere felt upscale, like being properly taken care of. It was a nice place to sit with a friend and spend time catching up.

Chicken skewers and Nagasaki seafood nabe: the food order

What we ordered that day at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch was chicken skewers, Nagasaki seafood nabe (hot pot), and two kinds of highball. This was the combo we picked after sitting down and going through the menu.

First to arrive: the chicken skewers!

Chicken skewers are hard to go wrong with as a drinking snack. They're easy to eat, which made them great with highballs. We kept picking one after another and before we knew it, the plate was empty 😂 And then came the dish I'd personally been looking forward to that day, the Nagasaki seafood nabe.

The pot was packed with seafood, so it looked appetizing the moment it landed on the table. Having a warm soup dish to spoon into between drinks was nice, and I thought it would be an especially good pick to share when visiting with a group.

Ordering one soup-based dish alongside skewers turned out to be a good combo. It really is better to mix up different kinds of food than to keep eating just one flavor.

Earl grey highball vs mojito highball: which one to get?

For drinks that day at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch, I went with highballs. First, the earl grey highball! It had a subtle earl grey aroma, which made it easy to pair with food. Worth ordering at least once if you like a sweet, fragrant highball.

Next was the mojito highball. It had a completely different feel from the earl grey, which made switching between the two fun. If you like refreshing flavors, the mojito highball will probably suit you better.

With the highballs on the table, it really felt like a proper evening drinking session. 🍹

From easy-to-pick-up items like the chicken skewers to warm dishes like the Nagasaki seafood nabe, there was something for every mood, and the highballs were tasty enough to make choosing part of the fun. Overall it was a relaxed evening of good snacks and good highballs, with plenty of conversation. Yeongdeungpo has good options both for a meal and for an atmospheric date, and I'd recommend Nani. Next time I'd like to try some of the other side dishes on the menu :)

Is Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch worth a visit?

That day we ordered a good variety — chicken skewers, Nagasaki seafood nabe, an earl grey highball, and a mojito highball. It's a good place whether you want just one snack with a drink, or several dishes for a relaxed conversation. The highballs in particular were so good that I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't drink much or who loves a tasty cocktail! If you're looking for an atmospheric bar in Yeongdeungpo or a dinner spot near Yeongdeungpo Station, this is a place worth remembering :)
