Bossam restaurant near Gyodae Station: 250g à la carte at Daseon

In short

Daseon Kalguksu is a kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle) and bossam (boiled pork with wraps) restaurant 180m from Exit 14 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. Two of us visited on a Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and ordered à la carte instead of a set menu: boiled pork bossam (250g) for 20,000 won and jam-daseon kalguksu for 10,000 won, with unlimited barley rice and an extra bossam. If you want plenty of pork, the à la carte combination at Daseon Kalguksu beats the set menu.

I heard there was a great spot near Gyodae Station that's good for both a meal and drinks, so I went to check it out 🫢 Today I'm introducing a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant near Gyodae Station, Daseon Kalguksu.

Where is Daseon Kalguksu and how do you get there from Gyodae Station?

Daseon Kalguksu is at 69 Banpo-daero 26-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 1st and 2nd floors, 180m from Gyodae Station Exit 14. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–23:00 (last order 22:30), Sat–Sun 11:30–22:00 (last order 21:30).

Exterior of Daseon Kalguksu, which looks like a converted single-family house

It feels like a converted single-family house being used as a restaurant. I love this kind of vibe 💗

Storefront sign reading '25 years of tradition, original hangover-soothing kalguksu'

25 years of tradition, original hangover-soothing kalguksu... don't you feel the energy of a great restaurant already.

Alley in front of the building with a small parking area

It says no parking 🅿️, but there are a few spots in front of the restaurant. They're not plentiful though, so I'd recommend public transit.

Interior of Daseon Kalguksu crowded with customers on a Sunday evening

Sunday evening wait and what the restaurant feels like inside

We visited around 6:30pm on a Sunday and it was really crowded. We just barely avoided waiting.

The interior overall had a cozy atmosphere—like being in someone's home. The interior and decor gave off a warm, nostalgic feeling.

Daseon Kalguksu menu and prices

The menu is broadly divided into kalguksu and bossam, with meal options as well as a separate drinking-snack menu, which I liked 👍🏻

Basic side dish spread of fresh kimchi, radish salad, and barley rice

Unlimited barley rice and the side dishes that come with it

Daseon Kalguksu's basic side dishes include fresh kimchi, spicy radish salad, and barley rice. The barley rice is unlimited refills, and mixing the radish salad with gochujang (red pepper paste) is a fainting-level good flavor 🫠

It really is that good. There's a wave of perilla oil aroma too, and I nearly overate on barley rice alone. I ended up asking for a refill... 🫠

Lettuce wraps, garlic, and salted shrimp served alongside a bossam order

When we ordered bossam, extra side dishes came out—lettuce wraps, garlic, and salted shrimp. That chili pepper was surprisingly spicy—exactly my style 🤩

Bossam 250g and jam-daseon kalguksu: why à la carte beats the set

What we ordered was bossam (250g) for ₩20,000 and jam-daseon kalguksu for ₩10,000. Since I wanted to eat plenty of bossam, I ordered them separately à la carte instead of the set menu—if you want to eat a lot of bossam, order à la carte instead of the set 🫢

The boiled pork is really tender and melts in your mouth. It's even better eaten together with the chives laid underneath 😉

🍜 Jam-daseon kalguksu ₩10,000. It's hard to believe you get this much for this price near Gyodae Station—the portion was huge and the broth was rich. We shared one bowl between the two of us and it wasn't lacking at all.

Here's the full spread. It's insane. Even on a Sunday, we ended up ordering soju. It's a combination you just can't resist.

Table setting with bossam paired with soju

I found bossam with fresh kimchi, radish salad, and cheongyang chili to be the most delicious combination 👍🏻👍🏻

The two of us ate until we were stuffed, and it was so good we ended up ordering extra bossam.

Can you see how good it looks? Ending the week with such a delicious meal made me really happy. This place is legit 🫶🏻
