A braised hairtail (galchi-jorim) restaurant near Seongsan Ilchulbong, Jeju: Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon.

Guess where I went recently~~ Jeju Island! It had been way too long since my last Jeju trip, and the weather was gorgeous, so it was just so good!!! Today I've got a review of Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon, a Seongsan restaurant we ate dinner at on the first night of our trip!
Where is Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch, and where do you park?
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is on the 1st floor at 101 Sinyang-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju, South Korea, open daily 08:00–21:30. Group dining, reservations, parking, and takeout are all available.

Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon sits right on the way to Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji, so it's a perfect Seongsan restaurant to fit into your travel route.

There are 2 free parking spots behind the restaurant, and if those are full, you can apparently park in the white-lined section of the road in front.
Inside Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon: a clean, simple dining room

Inside, the tables had plenty of space between them, and the white-and-wood-tone interior was clean and pleasant. There was none of the fishy smell or clutter you often get at local seafood spots, so it felt comfortable for a date or a family visit alike.
What comes in the A set at Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon?

Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon, a fish-specialty restaurant near Seongsan, Jeju, wins you over with its huge set spreads and reasonable prices. We ordered the most popular option, the A set.
- A set: braised hairtail (galchi-jorim)
- Grilled tilefish
- Chapssal hot stone pot rice
- Soy-marinated crab
- Seafood stew or sea urchin seaweed soup

The side dishes came out neat and tidy, giving off real countryside-table vibes.

Seafood hot pot and soy-marinated crab
For the soup in the A set, I went back and forth between the sea urchin seaweed soup and the seafood stew, but I ended up picking the seafood stew — and it turned out to be a great choice, haha. It was refreshing and spicy in the best way, the kind of thing that really clears you up inside. The broth was clean with no oiliness, so it made me crave a shot of soju, lol. If you're the type to have a drink with your meal, I definitely recommend the seafood stew.

The soy-marinated crab that came as a side dish was a total rice thief too~~~

Braised hairtail packed with Jeju-caught galchi
Here comes one of the dishes you absolutely have to eat on Jeju Island — braised hairtail (galchi-jorim)! Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon's version was loaded with plenty of Jeju-caught hairtail.

The hairtail flesh was so tender that it came right off with just a light scrape of the spoon. The sauce was spicy yet packed with savory depth — genuinely delicious. And you know the real MVP in a good galchi-jorim is the radish that soaks up all the sauce, right? So good!!!!

It was already a table full of rice thieves, but eating it all with the freshly cooked chapssal hot stone pot rice took it to a whole other level — almost teared up, lol.

Grilled tilefish, then a nurungji finish
And to round out the set, grilled tilefish (okdom-gui), a Jeju specialty — pretty perfect lineup, right?

The tilefish was grilled golden and crisp, with a crunchy skin and a clean, mild flesh underneath — a perfect combo to alternate bites with the braised hairtail. It wasn't salty at all, mild in a good way. I used to eat tilefish a lot as a kid, and having it again after so long felt both nostalgic and really tasty.

We wrapped up the meal cleanly with nurungji tea (scorched rice tea) — nothing beats finishing with that warm, savory sip to cleanse the palate.
