Lately I've been craving that hot, rich broth that just clears you right out, you know? Haha. I'd been wanting a hot pot to warm my stomach up for a while, so I headed to Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk, one of the go-to solo Korean dining spots in Ingye-dong! With the chilly wind blowing, one sip of the broth and all my built-up stress just blew away 🥘✨

Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch sits on the first floor of the Drama City building right in the heart of Ingye-dong, so it's really easy to get to! The red sign catches your eye right away from the building's exterior, and it gives off such a neat, tidy impression. It's the kind of storefront that pulls you in just from the smell of the broth as you pass by!

It's a space where you can eat comfortably solo without feeling awkward at all, so I'd really recommend it to anyone looking for a solo-dining Korean restaurant in Ingye-dong or a solid neighborhood spot to fill up.

Parking around Ingye-dong is always such a headache, right? Here you can conveniently use the basement parking in the building, so even if you drive, you can park without any worries and head straight up to eat 🚗👍

Is the Ingye-dong restaurant comfortable for eating alone?

Walking into Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk, even though it's a place that handles meat broth all day, there wasn't a hint of that gamey smell — it was kept so clean and well-tended that I felt good the moment I stepped in! The tables are spaced out generously and there were lots of solo diners too, so it's a really comfortable place to eat by yourself.

Side dishes: house-made pickled onion and kkakdugi

Once you sit down, they set out the basic side dishes for you! Sweet and salty house-made pickled onion and crunchy domestic kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) came out, and wow..!

The side dishes were so good I lost count of how many times I went back to the self-serve bar for more ㅠㅠ Rich broth with a piece of tangy kkakdugi on top is just love 💕

Bone hot pot (small) ordered between medium and hot

Today we were determined to clear our stomachs out, so we ordered the hearty 'bone hot pot (small)'!! For reference, you can pick the spice level to your taste from mild, medium, or hot, and we asked for it to be between medium and hot to get that pleasantly tingly kick that this Ingye-dong spot is known for!

Tada~ Not long after ordering, a huge hot pot came out with ingredients piled up like a mountain — the visuals are amazing, right? Even though it was the small size, the pot was so packed with bones and vegetables it nearly overflowed, and my jaw dropped 😲✨

How does the bone hot pot broth taste?

Simmered deeply from domestic pork bone stock, the broth had this savory yet spicy aroma that hit your nose the moment it started boiling. You could really tell it had a special depth of flavor from being slow-cooked so long!

The hot pot was loaded with fragrant perilla leaves, crunchy bean sprouts, and dried radish greens, which kept the broth clean-tasting yet really refreshing! It was truly spicy in the best way — perfect for clearing out a hangover 🌶️

Bone meat dipped in mustard sauce

I picked up one of the big bones, and the meat clinging to it was so thick..! It fell right off with just a touch of chopsticks, and dipped in mustard sauce, the texture was so soft and juicy — total thumbs up!

Mixing a bowl of rice with a spoonful of kkakdugi on top made me feel so full and satisfied, I had nothing left to wish for!!

The deep flavor of the slow-simmered pork bone broth, the tender meat, and the spicy kick that clears you right out — this place had it all!
