Pocheon lakeside café with ang-butter salt bread: Geurine Oasis
In short
Geurine Oasis is a large bakery café in Sohol-eup, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, set in two buildings — a main hall and an annex — right in front of Gomo Reservoir. Arriving around 1pm, the writer ordered two decaf iced Americanos and an ang-butter (red bean and butter) salt bread, then settled into a shaded outdoor seat for a long look at the water, with the coffee served in reusable cups you can take home. Geurine Oasis is worth the drive when you want fresh air and nature in Pocheon on a clear day.

Today I visited Geurine Oasis, a bakery café where you can take in the beautiful scenery of Pocheon's Gomo Reservoir while enjoying some leisurely time. This is one of the cafés around Pocheon's Gomo-ri known for its great views, so I'd been wanting to come for a while — I missed it on my last visit to the reservoir, so this time I made sure to stop by. The weather was gorgeous and cool that day too, which put me in an even better mood. So here's my story of properly enjoying Geurine Oasis.

Main hall, annex and the lake-view outdoor seats
Geurine Oasis is split into two buildings, a main building and an annex. You order in the main building, then you're free to relax in whichever space you like. The interiors here are nice, but the outdoor seating with the Gomo Reservoir view is really well set up too. On a nice day, sipping coffee and bakery items while taking in the wide-open lake view feels like the proper way to enjoy Geurine Oasis. Since the weather was so good on our visit, we didn't hesitate to grab an outdoor seat.

The main building has an interior in white and brown tones that gives off a bright, warm feeling.

House-baked breads and what families get at Geurine Oasis
The display case has a wide variety of bakery items baked fresh in-store. From savory, mild salt bread to scones, bagels, croissants, and choco pretzels, there's plenty of variety to pick from depending on your taste. The outdoor space is spacious, making it a good environment to visit with kids, and there are drinks for children and high chairs available too, so families should be able to visit comfortably.

Ordering at the kiosk: what we picked
There are as many as 3 kiosks in the store, so ordering shouldn't be a hassle even during busy hours. There's no separate paper menu — you check the menu and prices on the kiosk and order from there. The menu includes Americano and various coffee drinks, plus non-coffee options like milk tea and lattes. There are also prettily named premium teas, refreshing ades and non-alcoholic highballs, and a wide range of bakery items, so it was easy to pick something to my taste. We ordered two decaf iced Americanos and an ang-butter salt bread.
Watching the water from a shaded seat above Gomo Reservoir
We took our coffee and bread straight out to the outdoor space. Isn't this view amazing? Looking out at the wide-open view of Gomo Reservoir made even my mind feel more at ease. We happened to visit on the day it had just started cooling down, around 1pm, and once we sat down in the shade, a cool breeze blew through and it felt so refreshing. With the weather cooperating too, it was truly the perfect day to sip coffee and take in the lake view at leisure.

How the reusable cup and ang-butter salt bread held up
The coffee came in a cute reusable cup, and we were told we could take it home once we'd finished drinking — a practical yet delightful little souvenir. The ang-butter salt bread was full of rich, savory butter flavor, and the red bean filling wasn't too sweet, so it paired perfectly with the coffee. You can gaze out at the gorgeous lake view here, and apparently in spring, autumn, and winter you can even do fire-gazing at the outdoor tables — so I'd love to come back when there's a cool breeze for warm coffee and fire-gazing.
The lakeside deck walkway and music fountain
While enjoying coffee and dessert and lake-gazing, I noticed people leisurely strolling along the deck walking path by the lakeside, and there's also a music fountain in the middle of the reservoir where you can watch the fountain dance to the music. From quietly sitting and lake-gazing to walking and the music fountain, there turned out to be more to see and do here than expected.

Bringing a dog: the pet-friendly café and dog run
Another appealing thing about this place is that it's a pet-friendly café you can visit with your dog. There's a dog run where dogs can comfortably run around, and outdoor seating set up right by the run so you can spend relaxed time together with your dog.

Annex seating, restrooms and the forest air near Gwangneung Arboretum
After a relaxing, healing time spent lake-gazing, we finally checked out the annex too. Inside, it had the same warm, bright atmosphere as the main building, blending white and brown tones. There are various types of seating, so it looked great for visiting with family, friends, or larger groups without any inconvenience. There are also clean, well-maintained gender-separated restrooms inside, which was convenient. Maybe because the weather was so nice on our visit, most people — aside from those with young children — had taken outdoor tables, so the indoor space felt quiet and relaxed.
On top of that, the mountain right next door apparently belongs to Gwangneung Arboretum, so the whole Gomo Reservoir area feels as if it's wrapped in a huge forest. Maybe that's why the air felt even fresher, and just spending time outside looking at the open lake and green mountains felt like real healing.
Who should visit Geurine Oasis in Pocheon
A place where you can enjoy tasty bakery goods and coffee while lake-gazing at the Gomo Reservoir view, go for a walk, and spend time with your dog. Geurine Oasis was even better on a nice day when you could really soak up nature outdoors — I'd recommend it if you want to spend relaxed time in nature in Pocheon. Next time, I'd love to come back on a cooler day to enjoy coffee and some fire-gazing.
