Kkomak Manse in Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek: parking and the weekend family meal

To enjoy a good meal together as a family over the weekend, we headed to a well-known restaurant in Jukbaek-dong. Since we were driving, I was a little worried about parking, but there was a spacious, relaxed parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so I was able to park with total ease from the moment we arrived. It's a place where even less confident drivers can park without any stress, making it really accessible.

The exterior was so clean and well kept that our expectations were already rising before we even ate, and it gave off a great atmosphere both for a proper meal and for casually having a drink or two — a real Sosabeol favorite.

What comes with the Kkomak Manse Golgoru Family Set?

After we sat down inside, we ordered the Golgoru Family Set, which lets you try a variety of cockle dishes at once. The set includes a medium portion of Manse seasoned cockles, 3 pieces of cockle pancake, one cockle bibimbap, and a hot odeng tang (fish cake soup), so it was genuinely filling and great value. The dishes were set down one by one, neatly arranged, and the visuals alone were mouthwatering. Flying fish roe and laver, perfect for pairing with the basic side dishes, were also provided, rounding out a really generous spread. Thanks to how packed the set was, I had the happy problem of not knowing what to eat first — a Pyeongtaek restaurant that left us very satisfied.

Manse seasoned cockles: a house sauce that isn't too salty

The first thing we tried, the Manse seasoned cockles, had a special sauce that wasn't salty at all and was really easy to eat, which brought out the natural umami and flavor of the cockles even more. The seasoning wasn't overdone, so it had that clean, well-balanced taste that anyone, young or old, could enjoy.

The cockle pancake, fried to a nice golden brown, was crispy on the outside with plump, chewy cockles inside — exactly my taste — and even the kid with us ate it up happily, which made me smile. Cockle dishes can sometimes be a hit-or-miss thing, but the pancake here had a nutty flavor that anyone would like. On top of that, piling cockles and popping flying fish roe onto the laver and wrapping it up together turned out to be an even better combination than I expected — I kept reaching for more at this Jukbaek-dong spot.

For the rice dish, the cockle bibimbap came with a choice of soy sauce or spicy seasoning, and I went with soy sauce. The ratio and balance of cockles to rice were so good that I couldn't help but smile after the first bite, and the sauce was so tasty that I actually added an extra bowl of rice to mix in more — that's how deep the flavor was. On top of that, the warm odeng tang included with the set was a perfect match for my personal love of fish cakes. The broth was refreshing and packed with plenty of fish cake, making it great to have between bites throughout the meal, and it also made a fantastic side dish to go with drinks.

Is Kkomak Manse worth it for a family meal?

With outstanding food quality, generous portions, and comfortable parking all in one place, I can confidently recommend this as a favorite Sosabeol spot and one of the best restaurants in Pyeongtaek.
