Sosabeol cockle restaurant in Pyeongtaek, à la carte for two: Kkomak
In short
Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch is a cockle restaurant on Manse-ro in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, in the Sosabeol dining area of Jukbaek-dong near Starfield and Baedari Reservoir. Visiting as a pair, the writer skipped the two-person set and ordered à la carte instead: soy-sauce cockle bibimbap for 13,000 won and cockle pancake for 24,000 won, with plump cockles and soy seasoning that stayed light rather than salty. The cockle pancake was too big for two to finish, so the rest went home in a takeout box with the sauce packed separately.

If you're looking for a satisfying, healthy-feeling meal out today, let me recommend Kkomak Manse (꼬막만세), a Sosabeol-area restaurant in Pyeongtaek where I had lunch recently. The place is spacious and clean overall, and the staff were kind, so the whole meal felt comfortable. Best of all, you get to eat plenty of delicious cockles, so it's a great pick whether you're bringing your parents or a baby — let me introduce it.
Where is Kkomak Manse in Pyeongtaek, and what about parking and hours?

It's open Monday to Saturday 11:00–22:00 (last order 21:00) and Sunday 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:00), with a break time only on weekdays from 15:00 to 16:30. It's closed on September 25 for Chuseok. Kkomak Manse is located in Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek, close to Starfield and Baedari Reservoir, making it a great stop on a drive-course route — a real Sosabeol-area restaurant find.

There's a large parking lot in front of the restaurant, so even new drivers can visit comfortably.
Inside Kkomak Manse: seating and the self-serve side dish corner
The restaurant is spacious, and thanks to the high-backed chairs, it feels private even though it's an open space. On one side there's a self-serve corner for extra basic side dishes and a coffee machine, and there's also a restroom inside.

Kkomak Manse's space is spacious and felt hygienically kept — genuinely comfortable! With the high-backed chairs at every seat, even though it's an open floor, the atmosphere still feels private, which made the meal relaxing.

On one side of the restaurant there's a self-serve corner where you can grab extra basic side dishes — and it's spotless too!

There's also a coffee machine so you can have coffee for dessert after the meal — and a restroom is available inside the restaurant too.
What's on the menu at Kkomak Manse?
Kkomak Manse's signature dishes are cockle rice bowls, seasoned cockles, and cockle pancakes — cockle-based dishes — and there are also various set menus that are easy to choose from when dining with a group.

Kkomak Manse's signature dishes are all built around cockles — cockle bibimbap (rice bowl), seasoned cockles, and cockle pancake — and I liked that there are various set menus that make ordering easy when there's a group. Unless you're right at the coast, most cockle restaurants tend to be chains with uneven quality between branches, but Kkomak Manse's Pyeongtaek location is the main branch, so I could trust the flavor.

Two à la carte dishes instead of the set: soy-sauce cockle bibimbap and cockle pancake
Dining for two, I considered getting the two-person set, but since I wanted the large-size cockle pancake, I ordered à la carte instead: soybean sauce cockle bibimbap for ₩13,000 and cockle pancake for ₩24,000. A fish cake soup came out as a default side, and by the time we finished that, the main dishes arrived quickly.

Since we were dining as a pair, I thought about the two-person set but wanted the large cockle pancake, so I ordered the soybean sauce cockle bibimbap and the cockle pancake à la carte instead.

A fish cake soup came out as a default side, and while we were eating that, the main dishes arrived quickly.

The cockles were large and plump — you could tell they were fresh the moment the dish arrived. I don't think I need to go far for cockle bibimbap anymore, haha!
How does the soy-sauce cockle bibimbap taste?
Kkomak Manse's soybean sauce cockle bibimbap doesn't drench the cockles in seasoning, so instead of saltiness, the cockles' own savory, clean flavor comes through first. The bibimbap already has sesame oil drizzled on it, but if you want it even more fragrant, you can add a bit more from the sesame oil provided on the table.

The bibimbap already comes with sesame oil drizzled on top, but if you want it more fragrant, adding a bit more of the sesame oil provided at the table tastes great too.

The soybean sauce cockle bibimbap isn't heavily seasoned into the cockles, so instead of saltiness, the cockles' savory, clean flavor comes through first. Eaten with the rice, the umami keeps building — the kind of dish where your spoon keeps going back in without needing any other side dishes.

Wrapping it in nicely toasted seaweed with cockles, rice, and a bit of dried radish strips on top is the best combination! What I liked most was that it's a healthy, delicious meal that isn't overly seasoned — I'd love to come back with my parents.
Why the cockle pancake is too big for two to finish
Kkomak Manse's cockle pancake at ₩24,000 is packed with plump whole cockles and is on the larger side, so we couldn't finish it between the two of us. When I asked for the rest to be packed up, they even gave us the sauce separately.

The cockle pancake also came packed with plump whole cockles, so alongside the savory pancake flavor, the cockle flavor really stood out — genuinely delicious. The outside was golden and crispy, and the chewy texture of the cockles inside was very satisfying.

The cockle pancake was on the larger side, so the two of us couldn't finish it and asked to have it packed up — and they even gave us the sauce separately. Such a thoughtful, kind touch!
If you're looking for a healthy, tasty meal out that's also relatively affordable, I highly recommend Kkomak Manse in Pyeongtaek's Sosabeol area — it was a great meal!
