I found the perfect Pyeongtaek restaurant to take my parents to. I liked it even more because both the adults and the kids ate well!

What Kkomak Manse looks like at 5pm on a Saturday

The inside was bigger than I expected. Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch has about 15-20 tables of 4, and the group seating area can hold up to 24 people. It's roomy enough for family dinners as well as group gatherings. The whole place was clean and comfortable. I visited just after 5pm on a Saturday and was able to eat very leisurely.

The set menus come in 2-person, 3-person, and 4-person sizes, so it's easy to order a generous amount for your group. From seasoned cockles with vinegar to cockle pancake to cockle bibimbap, the set lets you try cockles in all kinds of styles, which I loved even more. So many dishes packed in that it feels like a full spread — great value too haha

We came as 3 adults and 2 kids, and I debated whether to get the 3-person set! But I was really craving cockle bibimbap, so I got the 2-person set plus an extra cockle bibimbap haha (turned out to be the perfect call haha)

It's genuinely so generous .. the visuals are insane! A full spread like this makes you feel full just looking at it haha. Every single dish came out in a big portion, which made it even better.

Seasoned cockles (medium) with flying fish roe and perilla leaf

Piling flying fish roe onto the seasoned cockles and wrapping it in perilla leaf .. this combo was seriously good. The popping texture of the roe on top made me keep going back for more haha. And the portion was huge!

Soy sauce cockle bibimbap: the best dish of this visit

The soy sauce cockle bibimbap was really good too! Scoop up one spoonful and 3-4 cockles come right along with it .. it was loaded with cockles without holding back, so every bite felt genuinely generous. Wrapping it in laver added a nutty flavor on top — the best! (This was my favorite haha)

How spicy is the red cockle bibimbap?

The red cockle bibimbap was tasty too! It looks spicy but was actually less spicy than expected, just right haha. The seasoning wasn't overly intense, so it was easy to eat without any burden. And pairing it with the fish cake soup that comes as a default side was a perfect match! A bite of spicy cockle bibimbap, then a spoonful of fish cake soup — I kept alternating back and forth haha.

Is Kkomak Manse good with kids? The standard fish cake soup

There's fish cake soup included as a standard side dish ..! Kids who struggle to eat cockles polished off a bowl of rice with the fish cake soup haha. I was worried there'd be nothing for the kids to eat, but thanks to the fish cake soup they had a satisfying meal too. (No need to worry about a lack of kids' side dishes haha)

Cockle pancake, our second favourite dish

Can't skip the cockle pancake either! It was packed with cockles inside, so it was chewy with every bite haha. The outside was fried golden and nutty, the inside was moist — amazing! (My second favorite after the bibimbap haha)

I love a place that has to-go containers .. (nice touch). They had to-go containers, but we cleaned every plate and left without needing one haha.

Self-bar at Kkomak Manse: free rice, baby chair and microwave

The self-bar has everything from a baby chair to a microwave! It's thoughtfully equipped for visiting with kids. And free rice ..! Families with rice-loving kids will really appreciate this haha. Overall a great spot for a family meal out!

Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek: the verdict

From seasoned cockles to bibimbap to pancake, it was a day of eating cockles to my heart's content. Kkomak Manse was even more satisfying because both my parents and the kids ate well! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Jukbaek-dong, I recommend it!
