Hanam Korean restaurant with boneless braised pollock: Appa Jjim
In short
Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Hanam, Gyeonggi, serving braised semi-dried pollock and pot rice. I ordered the medium braised pollock with dried radish greens, extra rice cakes, and fragrant pot rice for two; the staff removed the large bones, making it easy to enjoy with seaweed and bean sprouts. A satisfying choice for lunch or a meal with parents.

A Hanam Korean restaurant that is great for taking your parents
Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch is a great Korean restaurant in Misa, Hanam, to bring your parents to.
It is open daily from 11:00 to 21:50, with a break from 15:00 to 15:30. Parking is available, too.
Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch menu

Appa Jjim’s main dish is braised semi-dried pollock, but it also has a varied menu including braised monkfish and braised cutlassfish. There are lots of braised pollock options, including versions with siraegi (dried radish greens) and cuttlefish, and I loved that you can choose add-ons individually, such as rice cakes, tofu, and radish.
Maybe because there are lunch specials, plenty of nearby office workers seemed to come by for lunch, too!! I recommend it as a great Hanam lunch spot haha.
Ordering braised pollock with dried radish greens and fragrant pot rice
I ordered the medium braised pollock with dried radish greens, extra rice cakes, and fragrant pot rice for two.

These were the side dishes to enjoy with the braised pollock, and the seaweed and bean sprouts were absolutely essential! The other side dishes were nicely tasty, too.

Braised pollock made easy with the large bones removed
⭐️The braised pollock finally arrived⭐️ The first thing that got me was the look of it, piled high with sesame seeds.. The pollock looked wonderfully meaty, and there was loads of dried radish greens, too.
I went on a Monday at lunchtime, and even though the restaurant was spacious, it was packed and there was a wait!! Clearly a popular Hanam restaurant..👍🏻
Another great thing is that after bringing it over, the staff remove all the large bones so it is easy to eat! There were hardly any bones left, so I could enjoy it comfortably.

Fragrant pot rice with just the right amount of scorched rice
No matter how many portions you order, the fragrant pot rice comes in one pot. You can serve yourself little by little into the rice bowls provided. The savory aroma was so good the moment I opened it 🤤
Lots of places call themselves great pot-rice restaurants but barely give you any nurungji (scorched rice), right? Here, there was just the right amount, which I really loved haha. The rice itself was fluffy and delicious, too.

The medium portion was just right for three people. We chose the regular seasoning, and its pleasantly spicy-sweet flavor went so well with the pollock!

Tender dried radish greens and chewy rice-cake add-ons
The dried radish greens here are incredibly tender!! Wrapped around rice, they are total rice thieves. If you get the braised pollock, I definitely recommend the dried radish greens.
You can see how generous the portion is, right! I was especially glad I added the rice cakes—they were sooo chewy, and the sauce was delicious, so I just kept reaching for them.

All the pollock bones had been removed, so taking big bites was so delicious. It was tender with that slightly chewy texture unique to semi-dried pollock, and once I soaked it in the sauce, I just kept eating haha. The kind of flavor that would bring me back as a Hanam food spot next time!!

I liked that the tofu pieces were big, and the radish surprised me, too! In a braise, the radish absolutely has to be good, and this one was soaked through with seasoning and gently sweet. Another total rice thief 😋

It is seriously delicious wrapped in seaweedㅜㅠㅠㅠ One of the best braised pollock places I have tried!! The nutty seaweed goes so well with the pollock and seems to amplify its savory flavor even more.
Halfway through, I added all the bean sprouts and mixed everything together. Their crisp crunch made it even better. If I had not added the rice cakes, I definitely would have ordered more rice lol.

And finally, the scorched rice!! Maybe pot rice is really all about eating the scorched rice haha. It was nutty and the perfect palate cleanser.

Park here and visit Misajeonggyeong Park, too
There are plenty of parking spaces, and Misajeonggyeong Park is nearby, so it would be nice to visit them together!!
