It was time for my car's inspection, so this time I went to Gangseo Gongeopsa (강서공업사) for a comprehensive vehicle inspection.
I heard they run inspections even during lunch hour, from 12 to 1 pm, which seemed great for busy office workers. Worth noting too that the price is reasonable.

What kind of inspection station is Gangseo Gongeopsa?
Gangseo Gongeopsa is a government-designated private vehicle inspection station that handles Gangseo-gu car inspections, regular inspections, and comprehensive inspections quickly and accurately. Worth noting: regular inspections, comprehensive inspections, NOx inspections, and EV inspections can all be done in one stop here.
Normally, even though I drive all the time, when inspection day comes around I get a little anxious about where to go and how long it'll take — but this time it wrapped up much faster and simpler than I expected. Unlike other garages, the facility was really clean and not at all cluttered.
Here's the floor plan of the garage. It looks like an older diagram. For the comprehensive inspection, you just follow the blue arrows straight through. I sat in the waiting area, heard the results in the assessment room, then walked out, got in my car, and drove out following the arrows.

Do you need documents or a reservation at Gangseo Gongeopsa?
Gangseo Gongeopsa says you can get inspected even without your vehicle registration or insurance policy on hand, since they can check everything electronically — so it seems like less of a hassle if you happen to forget your documents. Being able to just walk in without a reservation was another plus.
For reference: booking a comprehensive inspection on Naver on a weekday gets you a ₩10,000 discount coupon, on a weekend a ₩5,000 discount coupon, and booking a regular inspection on a weekday gets you a ₩5,000 discount coupon — so make sure to reserve before you go. They even had the thoughtful touch of getting you to write a review while you wait!

Waiting seats, coffee and Wi-Fi at Gangseo Gongeopsa
I visited without preparing any complicated paperwork, and there was nothing extra for me to do after the inspection either. All I had to do was sit in the waiting area. It was spacious and cozy.

The waiting room was right next to where my car was being inspected, so I could watch comfortably.

There's a coffee vending machine too, so you can grab a cup and relax — it'll be over before you know it.

Wi-Fi is available too, just so you know.

How the comprehensive inspection works and how long it takes
When I arrived, there was about one car that had just started being inspected. Once I stepped inside the station, the staff told me right away to bring my car in and park it inside.

After I pulled my car in, there was almost nothing left for me to do. The staff handled moving the car and the entire inspection themselves, so I just waited comfortably.

I waited roughly 15 to 20 minutes, and before I knew it, they told me the inspection was done. It finished much faster than I expected — I found myself wondering, is that really all it takes?

How the staff explained the inspection results
What I especially liked was how thoroughly they explained the inspection results.

Honestly, even though I drive all the time, I never really knew what items actually get checked during an inspection. This time the staff walked me through the results along with exactly what they were checking, item by item — it felt like the first time I truly understood what a car inspection involves.

It wasn't just a quick rundown of results and done — whenever I asked something, they explained it in a way that was easy to understand. I think even people who don't know much about cars could get inspected here without any pressure.

They said imported cars, like diesel vehicles, go through a safe inspection process too, so owners of imported cars should find this a good option as well.

First time getting a comprehensive car inspection in Seoul?
After visiting in person, I realized a car inspection wasn't nearly as much of a hassle as I thought. You bring your car in, wait a little while, the staff handles the inspection for you, and at the end they explain the results in detail — so even first-timers should be able to get through it without any trouble.

If you're looking into car inspections in Gangseo-gu and want somewhere fast and convenient, I think Gangseo Gongeopsa's vehicle inspection is worth checking out.
