Wax carving studio in Yeonsinnae: blue flower enamel ring at Munak
In short
Munak is a wax carving jewelry studio in Eunpyeong, Seoul, on the 2nd floor of a building on Tongil-ro 83-gil, about a 10-minute walk from Yeonsinnae Station. At Munak the writer spent 1 hour 30 minutes measuring her ring size, filing the wax and carving a flower pattern by hand, then chose blue enamel for the petals and had her own handwritten signature engraved before the ring arrived by courier. The class costs 108,000 won plus add-ons for cubics, enamel and engraving, making Munak an easy pick for an unusual date in Yeonsinnae.

I love making things with my own hands, so I'm always on the lookout for hands-on experiences, haha. Today I went to [Munak] near Yeonsinnae Station for a one-day wax carving class! I made a ring, but they also offer bracelets, necklaces, and other jewelry pieces — I thought it'd make a great unusual date in Yeonsinnae too, haha.

Finding the Munak building in Yeonsinnae

[Munak], a great option for an unusual date in Yeonsinnae, is within a 10-minute walk from Yeonsinnae Exit 7.

You go into this building and head up to the 2nd floor~ (it's kind of confusing...)
Inside Munak: the studio's mood and 2-group limit per slot

When I opened the door, the whole place had this really lovely, emotive vibe. I thought a workshop would be super cluttered with tools everywhere, but it was surprisingly clean and cozy!!!

Instead of jumping straight into the making, you first have a consultation about the design before starting the actual work. Since they only take up to 2 parties per time slot, it wasn't crowded and felt nicely relaxed~

A super cool speaker. I loved the color matching the interior so much I took a shot*^^*
Choosing a design at Munak: ring, bracelet or necklace

One wall has designs displayed like this, great for reference. You can pick a design exactly as shown, or if you say 'I want something like this!' they'll do their best to match a design during the consultation. So bringing a real photo of jewelry you want to make would be a great idea!
Row after row after row
Glossy or matte finish?
I could also directly compare the difference between glossy and matte finishes using samples. (You can choose either matte or glossy!) Even the same design felt quite different depending on the finish.

The ring designs are so varied too. They'd look great as couple rings, and rather than feeling generic, each one has its own little accent point, perfect for making 'my own jewelry'!!

The bracelets are so pretty too!? You can decorate them with cubics, or add color with enamel shaped into patterns like this, haha. (Psst: I made a ring with added color!)
What surprised me was that there's a ring that's half gold, half silver!! Apparently that kind of plating option is possible too, so if you have a style in mind, definitely ask during the consultation. Time already flew by just picking the design, lol.
How much does a ring at Munak cost, and what are the add-ons?

[Munak] also runs an experience where you make a pendant from your pet's nose print, not just the wax carving one-day class. For anyone wanting to preserve their pet's trace in a special form, this seems like a really meaningful experience~
- 💰 Experience fee: ₩108,000
- + Cubic ₩5,000–10,000
- + Enamel ₩5,000 (sky blue, red, green available / other colors in the works)
- + Engraving ₩5,000 or ongoing Naver review event
- + ₩3,000 for courier delivery
- * Based on the wax carving experience *
At another place I tried before, you had to pay extra if you went over time, but here there was none of that — really nice, just saying.
🧡 Until 2026.09.30 there's an event giving ₩10,000 off, bringing it to ₩98,000, so definitely keep that in mind!!
How the ring-making process works at Munak
The design I finally chose was this one~ Out of everything displayed at [Munak], I liked this one the most, haha.

First, at the consultation table they measure your ring size. Once they confirm the size that fits your finger, they go over the design and the finer details one by one.

The professional tools laid out on the table were kind of intimidating... 'Can I actually do this?' I started to worry a bit, lol. But let's just get started, here we go.
1. Sizing the wax ring

Filing down (?) the inside of the ring to match my ring size.
2. Adjusting the ring's thickness
Filing down the outside of the ring too... I did some myself, but then the teacher stepped in to fix it up, and her hand skills are just on a totally different level, lol. Experts really are experts...😮
3. Carving the flower shape

You draw a rough sketch like this and then carve it out. Even if you draw it wrong, you can quickly erase it and fix it up^^
The teacher's touch again... this step was genuinely hard... but if you make a mistake here, you can just melt the wax again and redo it, so no pressure. (I redid mine three or four times, haha.)

Can you see it well?! You just need to carve out the flower shape like this, haha. That's the experience part done!! The polishing and finishing work after this is completed by the teacher. It took me about 1 hour 30 minutes total to get to this point.

And here's another highlight!!! At [Munak] you can have your own handwriting engraved on the ring. So I added my signature written on paper as the engraving, haha. Especially for couple rings, writing each other's names for the engraving would be so romantic🧡
The finished blue flower ring, delivered by courier ✨

It arrived carefully packaged by courier, along with a certificate and a card listing care instructions😮 The glossy, round blue flower was so pretty, haha. So gorgeous.

And here — comparing it with my engraving from earlier, it matched perfectly, which surprised me, lol. (TMI: it's a signature made from one syllable of my name.)

So shiny and made so beautifully, I'm super satisfied 💙
Final thoughts: is Munak a good unusual date in Yeonsinnae?
I didn't clean up my desk and my hands aren't pretty, but here's a photo of me wearing it too^^
At first, controlling the pressure with wax carving was tricky and I didn't have a good sense of how far to go, but the teacher guided me step by step so I could follow along slowly~ Even though it was hard, the most fun part was getting to participate directly in making it myself, haha. If you're looking for a ring workshop in Yeonsinnae, or want something different from a plain café date as a couple, I'd totally recommend [Munak] as an unusual date spot in Yeonsinnae, haha.
