In short

Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Gosan-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. When you go to a barbecue restaurant with children, it is not only about the food—there are surprisingly many things to think about, right? Kids can find it hard to stay seated for long, and it can be difficult for the adults to enjoy a proper meal too. The Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant (한마음정육식당) Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch I visited this time caught my eye as a family Korean BBQ spot in Uijeongbu, with a spacious dining room, private rooms, and even a kids’ zone.

Above all, there was a good variety of meat and the basic table spread was generous, so I finally had a proper meat feast for the first time in a while. :)

It is on the third floor of the Poly Plaza building, across from the back gate of Daekwang Rojeviang in Gosan-dong. You can use the building’s underground parking, which made visiting by car convenient. If you are looking for a dinner spot in Gosan-dong, it is a place where you can factor in both access and parking.

A spacious interior for family gatherings and groups

Once I stepped inside, the restaurant was much larger than I had expected.

There were plenty of tables, spaces where larger groups could sit together, and even private “secret rooms” for dining separately.

It seemed like a great fit not only for family meals, but also for occasions with parents, group gatherings, or company dinners with lots of people. That is why I thought it was worth keeping in mind when looking for a family Korean BBQ venue in Uijeongbu.

A welcome kids’ zone when you have children

The thing that stood out most here, of course, was the kids’ zone. This was not just a tiny play corner tucked into one side of an ordinary restaurant; it had proper play equipment where children could actually go in and play. When dining out with kids, they often get bored before the meal is even finished, but having a separate place to play like this means parents can eat a little more leisurely too. If you are planning a family Korean BBQ meal in Uijeongbu with children, this is definitely an advantage.

This is the Aged Pork Whole Set 1 kg that we ordered.

Aged Pork Whole Set 1 kg
Aged pork assortment with five cuts

Our main order that day was the Aged Pork Whole Set 1 kg. It brings out five pork cuts at once: samgyeopsal (pork belly), ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly with skin), moksal (pork neck), hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and gabrisal (pork skirt meat). Rather than eating only one cut all the way through, I like comparing little bites of different cuts, so this was exactly my kind of platter. At 1 kg, the portion was generous too.

The fun of choosing cuts to suit your taste

As soon as the grill was hot, we put the meat on one piece at a time.

Pork cooking on the grill

The samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal were savory as the fat and lean meat cooked together, while the moksal was lighter and easy to eat. Personally, when I have a mixed platter like this, I love having hangjeongsal and gabrisal included too. Hangjeongsal has its signature chewy texture, and gabrisal brings a different texture and nuttiness, so each cut felt distinct even though it was all pork.

Mixed pork cuts grilled together

Switching among five cuts on one platter meant I never got tired of it, even while eating 1 kg. It is a great spread for a night when you want a hearty meat dinner in Gosan-dong.

18 side dishes and a self-service bar

The basic table setting came with 18 side dishes: seasoned scallions, pickled radish sheets for wraps, salt and pepper, garlic, ssamjang (savory dipping paste), stir-fried fish cake, muksabal (acorn jelly in chilled broth), spicy cucumber salad, young napa cabbage geotjeori, spicy pickled peppers, king oyster mushrooms, cheese rice cakes, white kimchi, kimchi, whole onions, meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), lettuce, and perilla leaves.

What I liked as much as the meat was the basic table spread. There were so many sides to eat with the meat, and you can pick up more of anything you run short of at the self-service bar. Taking a bite of meat, pairing it with a side, then making a wrap—it was fun changing up the combinations. I also liked that, despite being a butcher restaurant, there was no separate table-setting charge.

Hot doenjang-jjigae and bibim-naengmyeon

And then there was the included doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew)! There is a separate burner for keeping the stew going alongside the tabletop grill, so you can eat it hot throughout the meal. The doenjang-jjigae is refillable too, which should be especially nice for anyone who wants broth with their meat. A spoonful of hot doenjang-jjigae followed by another piece of meat was, as expected, a perfect combination.

When we were almost done with the meat, we ordered one bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles). You know how it somehow does not feel like a meat meal is over if you skip naengmyeon, haha. But oh my gosh!! The bibim-naengmyeon was totally delicious, so we ordered another one—two, go go~♡ The seasoning was seriously right up my alley~~ Spicy, with a flavor that makes you reach for the meat??

Bibim-naengmyeon is good on its own, but I recommend saving a piece of well-grilled meat to eat with the noodles. The rich flavor of the meat alongside the spicy, tangy noodles made for a clean finish to the meal. After the Aged Pork Whole Set and bibim-naengmyeon, it really felt like we had eaten a proper dinner! So bibim-naengmyeon is absolutely essential!!!♡

A place where you can choose beef as well

We ate pork that day, but the menu also had a wide range of beef options. Even if pork lovers and beef lovers visit together, I do not think choosing the menu would be difficult. Being able to choose both pork and beef in one place seemed especially convenient for a group visit.

Why it was an easy meal out with children

After visiting, it felt like more than a restaurant made simply for eating meat; it felt designed with family visits in mind. With its spacious interior and private rooms, a kids’ zone where children can play, a side-dish self-service bar, and refillable doenjang-jjigae, it is an easy place for a group meal, family gathering, company dinner, or any get-together. It is especially comfortable for families with children!!♡ Whether there is a kids’ zone makes a big difference when choosing somewhere to eat, and this place clearly has the edge there.

Finishing with aged pork and bibim-naengmyeon

The Aged Pork Whole Set 1 kg we had this time was satisfying because we could try samgyeopsal, ogyeopsal, moksal, hangjeongsal, and gabrisal all at once. It is also a convenient venue for family gatherings, meetups with friends, and company dinners, with easy parking, a kids’ room, and group seating. There are both beef and pork options too, making it easy to settle on a meal. Adding two bibim-naengmyeon at the end was the perfect way to finish after the meat!

I think it would suit anyone who wants to try several pork cuts at once, is also looking for beef options, wants an easy meal out with children, or is searching for a family gathering venue with a kids’ zone and private rooms. From parking and the meal to a play space for the children, everything is handled in one place, so Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Uijeongbu Gosan District Branch felt like somewhere I could happily return to with lots of family next time. 😊
