Birthday hanjeongsik lunch near Yeoju Premium Outlets: Nadeulmok

In short

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-course) restaurant in Yeoju, Gyeonggi, about 7–8 minutes by car from Yeoju IC and Yeoju Premium Outlets. On a birthday outing to the outlets, the writer ordered the braised cutlassfish set for two at 25,000 won per person and received stone-pot rice, nurungji (scorched rice tea), 10 side dishes plus tangpyeongchae, japchae and fried eggplant. Even with 7 parties waiting on a weekend, the line at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap cleared in 10 minutes, so it works well for a meal with parents.

It's my birthday~~~ went to Yeoju Premium Outlets to look around for stuff to buy, and figured, well, if I'm in Yeoju I've gotta eat Yeoju rice, so I searched for a hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meal) place near the outlets.

And I landed on Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap, a Yeoju restaurant known for serving a neat table set with self-grown rice and vegetables! 🙌

Just to say upfront — this is a restaurant that grows its own produce and cooks everything by hand, so from the braised cutlassfish set for two to the stone-pot rice to the starters like tangpyeongchae and japchae, it was seriously perfect haha 😆

How to get from Yeoju Premium Outlets to Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap, plus opening hours

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is easy to get to, close to Yeoju IC, Yeoju Premium Outlets, Empress Myeongseong's Birthplace, and Yeoju Insect Museum! In my case too, coming from the outlets, it only took 7–8 minutes by car even on a weekend.

  • Hours: Daily 11:00–20:30
  • Break time: 15:30–17:00

They're open every day too, so it's perfect for lunch or dinner if you're out and about nearby.

And and, there's a spacious parking lot so parking is really convenient 🚶‍♀️ The space in front of the restaurant isn't even all of it —

there's an insanely huge parking lot behind the restaurant too.

How long is the weekend wait? 7 parties cleared in 10 minutes

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap does have a wait on weekend visits, but the turnover is fast, so even with 7 parties ahead of you, it clears in 10 minutes. It's such a nature-friendly, comfortable hanjeongsik place that the wait didn't feel like a burden at all.

When I visited, there was a wait, probably because it was the weekend ㅜㅜ Truly a popular spot.

So I put my name down for the wait,

On my way out after eating, I saw the closing sign up, so I'd recommend going before the last order time of 7:30pm at the latest. Finally, entering~~~~

There are several kinds of set meals, but since I've been eating a lot of meat lately, I decided to try the braised cutlassfish set for two (₩25,000 x2) this time 👀

The rice, kimchi, and pork are all domestic~~~

Since they said it's Yeoju rice they grew themselves, I was super excited for the rice.

What comes with the cutlassfish set for two: stone-pot rice and 10 banchan

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap's braised cutlassfish set for two comes with braised cutlassfish, stone-pot rice, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and 10 side dishes. Before the meal, starters like tangpyeongchae (mung bean jelly salad) and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) are laid out first, and it finishes with nurungji made by pouring water into the stone pot.

Starters and side dishes at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap

Before the meal, the hanjeongsik staples like tangpyeongchae and japchae come out! Two servings of muk (jelly) showed up and I was like, huh? Turns out that was instead of the fried eggplant, so later they brought out the fried eggplant too hahahahaha And this fried eggplant was seriously amazing!

Braised cutlassfish set for two, 25,000 won each

No fishy taste at all — spicy yet deeply savory sauce soaked all the way into the cutlassfish, making it an absolute rice thief 🥤 Cooked to order with their own homemade sauce, the fresh, spicy-salty flavor of the braised cutlassfish was just something to marvel at.

They use the vegetable garden behind the restaurant to grow seasonal vegetables in small plots, and cook the side dishes and doenjang jjigae with their own homemade paste, giving everything a cleaner, deeper flavor ✋ And the side dishes — a whopping 10 of them, 10!!!!

Stone-pot rice and nurungji (scorched rice tea)

Cooked with 100% pure fresh Yeoju rice grown in Yeoju's rich soil and clean water, the rice was chewy and nutty — just excellent. After enjoying the rice set with the stone-pot rice, I finished off the nutty nurungji completely, and felt totally full and satisfied!

Verdict: is Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap worth a stop in Yeoju?

Thanks for the meal! Parking in the spacious lot was so easy, and this is a place I'd absolutely revisit — whether bringing my parents or as a drive-course stop, 200% would return! If you're looking for a Yeoju rice restaurant or Korean food near the Yeoju outlets, I highly recommend Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap! 🌳
