Yeoju Outlets Korean restaurant, 10-minute wait: Nadeulmok Yeoju

In short

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant serving Yeoju rice sets right at the entrance to the Yeoju outlets in Gyeonggi. On a weekend afternoon with a kid, the wait was about 10 minutes behind 4 parties, and the order was two braised cutlassfish rice sets (25,000 won each) with added mackerel and stone-pot rice, from starters like fried eggplant to four thick chunks of cutlassfish. Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is a solid choice when you want a proper meal instead of the outlet food court.

Last weekend was one busy-place hop after another haha. Seoul Land on Saturday, Yeoju Outlets on Sunday! Being the weekend, the outlet was packed too. After wandering around for a while we got hungry and started wondering, "what should we eat at Yeoju Outlets?" — craving something hearty and Korean, we found this place!

Dedicated parking lot in front of Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap

There's a large dedicated parking lot right in front, so we didn't have to worry about parking at all. If there's a wait, you register on a tablet outside the entrance. The restaurant itself is spacious with lots of tables, so tables turned over faster than expected.

There were about 4 parties ahead of us too, but we waited only about 10 minutes before getting seated.

Inside looked freshly renovated — clean, with plenty of tables and private rooms. There were group tables as well as lots of families visiting.

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap menu prices and what we ordered

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap's signature dishes range from rice set meals to soy marinated crab, bulgogi, and braised cutlassfish. Looking around, the basic Nadeulmok rice set seemed the most popular order. It comes with mackerel included.

  • Nadeulmok rice set ₩21,000
  • Bulgogi rice set ₩25,000
  • Braised cutlassfish rice set ₩25,000
  • Soy marinated crab rice set ₩39,000

We were craving something spicy and savory that day, so we ordered two braised cutlassfish rice sets plus an added mackerel plus one added stone-pot rice. FYI, from school age onward, each person needs their own menu item. Our little one Bbanggyeol is still preschool age so we didn't technically need to order separately for her, but she eats so well that we added a stone-pot rice for her anyway haha. Our family always orders generously~

The starters that arrive before the main dish

Starter spread of salad, mung bean jelly, japchae, and fried eggplant

After ordering, before the main dish comes out, you get salad, cheongpomuk (mung bean jelly), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and fried eggplant. And these starters were each a standout! The fried eggplant in particular was really delicious.

Plate of fried eggplant stuffed with meat filling

The eggplant is stuffed with a meat filling, so one bite in and I thought, "this isn't just a side dish, this is a proper dish!" You can even order extra fried eggplant separately for ₩4,000 for 5 pieces. Everything from the appetizers on was so good that our anticipation kept building before the full spread even arrived~~!

A full table spread like a royal Korean meal

After a short wait, the main dishes finally arrived! With the braised cutlassfish, stone-pot rice, and a table packed with an array of side dishes, it truly rivaled a royal table setting. The side dishes overall have a homey, varied style — from namul (seasoned vegetables) to fish cakes and more, so there was fun in picking and choosing what to try.

Why Yeoju rice is the real star

Opened lid revealing the Yeoju stone-pot rice

And when I opened the lid of the stone-pot rice... yeah, Yeoju really is about the rice haha. The aroma alone was great, and the grains were moist yet chewy! Piling side dishes on one spoonful at a time, I ended up eating way more rice than usual haha.

We even scraped up every bit of the savory scorched rice (nurungji) at the bottom.

Braised cutlassfish: don't underestimate those four chunks

Pot of braised cutlassfish for two servings

And now, the star of the day — braised cutlassfish! For two servings, there are 4 chunks of cutlassfish included. Don't you dare underestimate those 4 chunks haha. Each one is huge and hearty, big enough that you could split them into 8 pieces if you wanted!

The thick cutlassfish was packed with meat, and this was the first time I've felt this full after eating braised cutlassfish. There was plenty of radish and green onion too, so the broth was refreshing and clean. Mixing the warm Yeoju rice with the sauce and piling on a generous heap of cutlassfish for one bite... ah, that's happiness right there haha.

What to eat near the Yeoju outlets with kids

Table at Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap after finishing the meal

Sure, using the food court inside the outlet is convenient for a quick meal. But on weekends it gets pretty hectic, and if you eat something light and go shopping, you get hungry again fast. In those cases, stepping just outside the outlet for a proper meal seems like a great choice.

Nadeulmok Yeoju Ssalbap is close to Yeoju Outlets too, making it a great spot to visit before or after shopping,

and it's the kind of place worth stopping by for a good Yeoju rice meal while you're at the outlet. It's a place anyone — any age — can enjoy without fail, and a great spot to visit with family. It's the kind of restaurant we'll probably come back to whenever we visit Yeoju Outlets.
