Fall has arrived, with that chilly edge in the morning and evening air~! I personally love summer so much that it's a bit sad, but honestly, now that it's cooling down, it feels so good!

Hwanggeum Seafood Nurungji-tang hours and holiday opening in Bijeon-dong, Pyeongtaek
Whether it's hot or cold out, you always need some good nourishing food! So I went to Hwanggeum Seafood Nurungji-tang, a well-known spot in Bijeon-dong~! Hours run from 10:30 to 20:00, break time is 14:30 to 16:30, and it's closed on Tuesdays.
They said they're open as usual during the holiday season~! Personally, that gets a big star from me. Cooking during the holidays is so hard, ugh ㅠㅠ

Plus, after eating heavy, greasy holiday food, having a warm soup with nurungji (scorched rice) that stays hot until the last bite is just perfect~! It really cuts through the greasiness~!!
I woke up late on a weekend and had it as brunch~! My stomach felt so comfortable afterward~! We ordered the signature 300-degree seafood nurungji-tang for 18,000 won and the Jirisan black pork sticky rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork) for 24,000 won~!

Two 6-person rooms that open into one for 12 — family gatherings
While waiting for the nurungji-tang and tangsuyuk to arrive, I looked around~! The food is super hot, but the indoor air stays cool, which I really liked~! Besides the regular hall seating, there were also rooms where you could dine comfortably with parents~!
There were two rooms for 6 people, and with the folding doors combined they could seat up to 12~! It seemed perfect for family gatherings — Parents' Day, birthdays, boknal (dog days of summer), you name it~!

The basic banchan (side dishes) came out neatly arranged too. And the tableware — nothing cheap-looking, even bringing your parents here! These little details really matter when picking a restaurant to take your parents to! Is it just me? Haha

What's on the self-serve banchan bar, plus microwave and coffee machine
They serve basic banchan, but you can refill as much as you want at the self-serve bar~! They had kimchi, seasoned squid, lotus root salad, and garlic scapes~! Shredded garlic scapes? These went so well with the seafood nurungji-tang~! Fresh and tangy, loved it~!

And off to one side there's a microwave, great for parents with babies~! You could easily warm up baby food~! Asking staff to specifically heat something up for you for a few minutes always feels a bit awkward, so having this self-serve option shows real thoughtfulness from the owner!!!!! There's even a coffee machine set up quietly nearby~! Now let's get into the actual meal~!

300-degree seafood nurungji-tang poured at your table
The staff member pours the nurungji and sauce right in front of you! This is genuinely a sight to see — the sauce bubbling up like it's about to overflow was really fun to watch! It made me feel a bit pampered too, honestly~!

Scraping the bubbling nurungji-tang down to the very bottom and eating it together with all the seafood and vegetables inside really felt like a hangover cure~! Like the wine from last night's dinner was just washing right down~! I'd been sober for a while and drank for the first time in forever, so I was feeling a bit rough — this soup is a miracle worker~!!

How was the Jirisan black pork sticky rice tangsuyuk?
Then I saw the table next to us eating a plump, generous portion of tangsuyuk, and I couldn't just walk past it, so I ordered one! They call it sticky rice tangsuyuk, and the meat inside is insanely generous~!!

First off, the pieces were huge and looked so appetizing, and the batter wasn't heavy at all while the meat inside was really substantial~! It had that satisfying chew~! I devoured it in no time~! At other places the batter can feel too heavy so I only eat a few pieces, but the tangsuyuk here was genuinely delicious.

I'm the type who dunks tangsuyuk fully in the sauce, so I soaked it and enjoyed it that way~! The sauce was just the right balance of sweet and tangy, so I kept going back for more~!

Why Hwanggeum Seafood Nurungji-tang suits a meal with parents
The seafood nurungji-tang is ridiculously hot, so scooping it into individual bowls and eating it alongside the banchan really does feel like a proper nourishing meal~! While eating, I kept thinking of my parents — probably because the sauce isn't overwhelming and it's easy on the stomach~!
I'm definitely bringing my parents next time~! If you're trying to figure out where to gather the family for Chuseok or another holiday, how about Hwanggeum Seafood Nurungji-tang in Bijeon-dong, Pyeongtaek, which stays open through the Chuseok holiday season?!
