Namak study café open till midnight with power outlets: GRAY LAZY

In short

GRAY LAZY is a gray-toned second-floor café on Daejukseo-ro in Samhyang-eup, Namak, Muan. Looking for somewhere to work alongside her younger sibling, the writer took a window seat for one near a power outlet, wrote her order on a paper slip in pencil, and tried an iced Americano, the Sugwan Gipi (crown shyness) drip coffee, churros with chocolate dipping, and a bagel set. Open daily 11:00–24:00, GRAY LAZY is a quiet place to settle in and work for hours.

I went home to visit family for the first time in a while, and my sibling and I each had work to get done, so we went looking for a café in Namak, Muan. Working at a café means thinking about outlets, noise, and all that — but GRAY LAZY in Namak turned out to be great for working, with a nice enough atmosphere for a date too. The vibe and the food were both so good that I have to give you my honest review of GRAY LAZY!

What is the atmosphere like at GRAY LAZY?

Walking into GRAY LAZY in Namak, the first thing I noticed was the calm gray interior that matches its name.

The metal tables and chairs blended together nicely, giving it a clean, slightly modern feel.

I also liked that the café wasn't loud or bustling but had a calm atmosphere instead. It felt like work would somehow go twice as smoothly here...!!!

There were people just there for coffee, but also plenty of people with laptops open working or reading books, which made me think this is a great café to settle into for a long time.

Power-outlet seats, window seats for one and group tables

Some of the seats had outlets, which made it easy to bring a laptop and work. There were also single seats set up by the window, so people who wanted to enjoy some time alone could visit without feeling awkward about it.

There's also group seating for several people, set apart in a space that feels like a private room, so if you're meeting with a group, it seemed like a good idea to book ahead through Naver Reservations.

Before ordering, I wandered around the café a bit, and I could feel the owner's affection for the place everywhere — in notes and drawings left by customers, and in little touches like the pet cushions.

How ordering works: write it yourself in pencil

And the way you order at GRAY LAZY is a bit fun too. Most places use kiosks or tablet ordering these days, but here you fill out your order by hand with a pencil, which felt refreshingly different.

Honestly, I never have a reason to write with a pencil these days, so picking one up again felt kind of fun haha.

What we ordered at GRAY LAZY: Americano, Sugwan Gipi drip coffee, churros and a bagel set

I ordered an iced Americano, a drip coffee called Suguangi (수관기피), churros with chocolate dipping, and a bagel set (I ordered the bagel set separately, extra, haha).

The Americano at GRAY LAZY leans acidic

I usually prefer a nutty, low-acid Americano, but GRAY LAZY's Americano was fairly acidic (mine came in a Marujjang tumbler, haha).

Iced Americano in a tumbler

I can handle some acidity in coffee so it was fine for me, but if you're usually not a fan of acidic beans, this might not be your style, haha. In that case I'd recommend going for a latte or something else.

Sugwan Gipi drip coffee tastes like fruit tea

The drip coffee, Suguangi, was more unusual and fun. The first sip had grape and mango fruit notes, and further in it turned sweet and tangy like peach or plum — more like drinking a flower tea or fruit tea than coffee.

With all those layered fruit notes, it was nice to sip slowly and just take in the aroma, and its acidity actually paired really well with the sweet churros.

The churros seemed to be fried right after ordering — super crispy and nutty on the outside. Dipping them in chocolate and adding almonds on top gave me sweet, nutty, crispy textures all at once, and it was really good!

It's way better with the chocolate and almonds than eating the churros plain, so definitely order the churros + chocolate dipping!!

Bagel set with house-made black sesame spread

Since I got a little hungry while working, I ordered the bagel set on top. The toasted bagel was crispy outside and moist inside.

The house-made black sesame spread that came with it made me wonder at first what flavor it even was, but once I slathered it on generously, the nutty black sesame flavor really came through. I'd recommend not holding back and spreading it on thick haha.

Why GRAY LAZY works as a laptop café in Namak, Muan

GRAY LAZY in Namak, Muan felt more like a space to spend time comfortably than a loud café where you just grab coffee and leave. And with hours running all the way until midnight, you can enjoy the café no matter what time it is — I don't think there's another café in Namak that combines this many strengths.

If you're looking for a good-vibe café in Namak, or a café with outlets for work, or somewhere quiet and calm to enjoy your own time, I recommend GRAY LAZY!
