Hapjeong brunch café for a grilled shrimp plate: Seowon Angil
In short
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a two-floor brunch café in Seogyo-dong, Mapo, Seoul, within walking distance of Exit 3 at Hapjeong Station. The order was the soup of the day (mushroom on this visit), a grilled shrimp and herb oil plate, and an iced vanilla bean latte, with the toppings piled onto sourdough and the generous bowl of soup proving very filling. There are a lot of great-looking cafés around Hapjeong these days, and while looking for somewhere to have brunch with coffee, I ended up at Seowon Angil Hapjeong, a café near Hapjeong Station.
Where is Seowon Angil Hapjeong, and what about parking and hours?

Seowon Angil Hapjeong, a well-known spot in Seogyo-dong, is an easy walk from Exit 3 of Hapjeong Station. Parking only fits about 3-4 cars, so if it's full, park at a nearby paid lot and show your ticket at the café for parking fee support.

Seowon Angil Hapjeong uses both the 1st and 2nd floors, so the space feels large, and dogs are welcome too — it looked like a nice spot to bring your pup.

Seating on the first and second floors, and the full-length window seats
Walking inside Seowon Angil Hapjeong, the mix of lush green plants and wood interior gave it a warm yet upscale feel, with plenty of seating for 2, 3, 4, groups, and reservations. The 2nd floor window seats have a full glass wall, perfect for weather like this, and the view held up well against even the big cafés out in the suburbs.

Ordering by QR code and choosing between two coffee beans
Every table has a QR code, so checking the menu and ordering from your phone was easy.

There were two coffee bean options to sniff and choose from, and beyond the brunch menu, they also sell other baked goods, cookies, and cakes.

How do the soup of the day and grilled shrimp herb oil plate taste?
Ordered the soup of the day, the grilled shrimp and herb oil plate, and an iced vanilla bean latte!

When the food arrived, the colors were plated so nicely it looked delicious just to look at.

Soup of the day: mushroom on this visit
First up, the soup of the day! It came with sourdough bread.
The soup of the day seems to change daily, and on my visit it was mushroom soup. The portion was generous and the mushroom's savory flavor was great — even better with the sourdough, and it filled me up completely.

Grilled shrimp and herb oil plate with sourdough
The grilled shrimp and herb oil plate had such a great lineup. Salad, grilled shrimp, avocado, scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, sourdough, tomato garlic oil — healthy ingredients, varied and generous, great for a diet-friendly meal or just a filling one. Loading up the sourdough with whatever topping I wanted and dipping it in the oil was so good.

Iced vanilla bean latte
The iced vanilla bean latte was richer and sweeter than a regular vanilla latte, and after a healthy brunch, having something sweet to drink was nice.
Final verdict on Seowon Angil Hapjeong
Seowon Angil Hapjeong, a Hapjeong brunch café, felt less like an ordinary coffee-only café and more like a space where you can enjoy brunch and dessert all at once. The space is large with a variety of seating, so it also looked like a good spot for a date or a group gathering. If you're looking for a good-vibe café near Hapjeong Station, Seowon Angil Hapjeong is worth a visit.
