Muan café with a private room and strawberry bear latte: GRAY LAZY

My maternal grandparents are pretty modern for their age, so they love going to a café after a meal, haha. That day we'd had a delicious lunch of octopus, and there was a café 20 minutes away by car that looked like it had a nice atmosphere, so we headed over. Let me introduce Namak café GRAY LAZY, where the whole family got to relax over coffee and have a lovely time 🩶

Where is GRAY LAZY, and what are its hours and parking?

Namak café GRAY LAZY is on the 2nd floor of the Seogwang Building. It's open daily 11:00–24:00 (Sunday 11:00–23:30), and you can park on the roadside or use a nearby public parking lot. GRAY LAZY has no signage so it can be a little tricky to find — just look for the 2nd floor of the Seogwang Building.

Stepping off the elevator into GRAY LAZY's "slow moment"

Right when you get off the elevator, there's a blurb introducing GRAY LAZY. In our busy modern lives, the phrase 'when you need a moment of leisure' really resonated with me — I think I read it again on my way home.

The first thing you see when you walk in is the menu. At first I assumed, like most cafés these days, that there'd be a kiosk for ordering, but instead the menu was on paper, with a pencil next to it for writing your order. You just grab a menu and take a seat. Rather than quickly picking something off a kiosk, being able to slowly browse the paper menu felt like a fresh, nice change.

Next to the entrance they also sell café goods like coffee beans, drip bags, capsule coffee, and GRAY LAZY drinking cups, so it's worth taking a look 🩶

The interior of GRAY LAZY is done in black and gray, giving it a weighty yet upscale overall feel, and the large table set in the center was quite striking — it fit the mood of the space perfectly and looked really cool. My dad, who never usually comments on café interiors, suddenly said in the car on the way home, 'Today's café looked pretty upscale and nice.' He never talks like that normally, so I was oddly proud and it made me laugh 😉🩶

When we first walked in, I thought it was a small café, but there was actually a spacious area hidden behind the counter, plus a private room, which would make it great for a family gathering or a visit with a larger group.

In the showcase next to the counter I spotted a chestnut cake, bagels, custard cream, and cold brew concentrate,

and off to the side, fresh cold brew was slowly dripping down one drop at a time. Watching it take its time to extract felt very in keeping with GRAY LAZY's whole vibe of spending a leisurely moment at the café.

A table for six and pencil-on-paper ordering at GRAY LAZY

There were six of us, so we took a table for five or more. On the table, along with a table number, there was a pencil and a notepad set out. Some people were even drawing on the notepad — it seemed like it was there so you could just relax and enjoy your coffee at your own pace.

So, shall we slowly look through the menu and order? I'm so used to kiosks that it felt a little awkward at first, but the older members of the family actually preferred this style of ordering. The menu listed drinks and desserts as well as the ordering instructions and GRAY LAZY's monthly news.

I hadn't written with a pencil in a while, so I liked the scratchy sound it made. You take your order slip to the counter to pay, and then staff bring the drinks to your table.

🤎 The vanilla bean latte was sweet and smooth, hitting the spot perfectly for the older generation, and 💛 the Amangchubokchu I ordered — an iced tea with added mango and peach purée — looked pretty in the review photos, so I ordered it just wanting something cold without expecting much, but it was really tasty, better than I thought. ❤️ And my cousin Rangjju's strawberry bear latte had a cute bear-shaped ice cream on top of the strawberry latte she loves, so she was thrilled the moment it arrived. If you're visiting with kids, I'd recommend the strawberry bear latte 💕

The churros were fried the moment we ordered them, so we got to eat them warm, which was great. They came with chocolate dip and almonds we'd ordered alongside — dipping the churro in chocolate and then pressing it into the almonds added a nice crunch and made it even tastier 🍫

Is GRAY LAZY worth it for a family visit in Muan?

That's my visit with family to 🤍Namak café GRAY LAZY🩶. Ordering slowly with a pencil and having our drinks brought to us let us enjoy our coffee at a leisurely pace. The atmosphere was great and the drinks and desserts were delicious too, so I'd recommend it as a café for a comfortable break 🤍. Next time I'm in Gwangju, I want to come back and try some of the other menu items 🩶
