Ansan restaurant for lamb rib steak: That Man's Italian Restaurant

While looking around shops in Jungang-dong, Ansan with my husband, I had lunch at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge (그남자의이태리식당&라운지). We ordered lamb rib steak and seafood cream pasta, then sat on the terrace and talked while waiting for the food.

How do you get there from Jungang Station, and is parking available?

The restaurant is on the sixth floor of Dongwon Building at 40 Gojan 1-gil. The original post lists it as 354 m from Jungang Station Exit 1, or about a five-minute walk. We parked at a public parking lot a short distance from the building, and were told that parking support was available there as well.

During my visit, I also saw a notice identifying it as an Ansan-designated good restaurant.

The original post lists the hours as 12:00–22:00 from Tuesday through Sunday, with regular closure on Mondays. It also lists a break time of 15:00–17:00 and last orders at 21:00.

Was the space suited to a date or gathering?

When we took the elevator up to the sixth floor, potted plants and framed pictures caught my eye first. There was also a flower-filled terrace, and the weather was so nice that my husband and I sat there for a while before the food arrived, looking at the sky and talking.

The rabbit ornament on the terrace also stood out.

It made me think that, if I lived in a country house, I would want a terrace like this.

The interior was neat, with soft music and lighting that created a pleasant atmosphere for a meal for two.

There was also a separate room for group seating. It felt like a space to keep in mind for a quiet meal with family or acquaintances, and I thought it would suit a small first-birthday party or a meeting between families as well.

I also liked that the kitchen was visible from inside the restaurant.

What did we order for lunch?

I chose the lamb rib steak because I was curious about its flavor, while my husband, who likes cream pasta, chose the seafood cream pasta. We ordered cola and an Americano to drink.

Since it was my first time trying lamb ribs, I was looking forward to finding out what they would taste like.

Warm bread arrived first. It was fluffy both outside and inside, and I enjoyed it.

What were the smell and texture of the lamb ribs like?

The lamb rib steak came with two pieces and sauce. The presentation was pretty, so I paused to look at it before eating.

It was described as two pieces of Australian French rack from lamb under 12 months old. Since we prefer our meat cooked through, we chose medium-well. It arrived cooked as requested, and I did not notice any off smell. The seasoning had soaked in well, and the texture was tender and juicy, so I enjoyed my first lamb ribs.

Grilled tomatoes, zucchini, and mushrooms came alongside, and went well with the meat.

What did the seafood cream pasta taste like?

My husband especially liked the pasta's cream sauce. He said it was neither too thick nor too thin, and that he liked its smooth, nutty flavor.

The seafood was tender rather than chewy.

The sauce was the most memorable part of the pasta that day—my husband said it would be a shame to leave any behind and spooned it up.

At the end, I picked up the lamb ribs by the bone and ate them with my hands.

What stayed with me after the meal?

There were many calligraphy postcards, and when I asked about them, I was told they were works painted and lettered by the owner’s mother, who is an artist. During my visit, I was told about a September event in which guests could tell a staff member which postcard they liked and receive it as a gift.

I chose one with the phrase, “Smile at the little things today, too,” and received not only the postcard but also a frame. The sherbet served for dessert was cool and refreshing.

I liked both the food and atmosphere, and the staff were kind. I also felt the prices were reasonable, though the original post does not record the specific amount paid. After our lunch date, it felt like a place I would think of again when I wanted to treat someone to a meal.
