Pyeongtaek dessert café with chocolate-packed madeleines: Cafe Pomun

I finally visited Cafe Pomun (카페포문) in Ichung-dong, Pyeongtaek, which an acquaintance had raved and raved about for its desserts! 😆

Outside the café, the huge word “coffee” written on the brick wall felt so distinctive that it immediately made me curious, haha. As soon as I walked in, there were desserts everywhere that looked sweet even just from looking at them!! I seriously wanted to eat them all 🤭

Owner-recommended madeleines and financier

There were so many kinds of desserts, including madeleines and financier, and they all looked truly delicious, so I spent ages deciding. Then the owner recommended the Earl Grey White Chocolate Madeleine and Dirty Chocolate Madeleine, haha. On top of those recommendations, I also ordered the Sweet Potato Salted Caramel Financier, hehe. Seeing it covered in caramel, I could already imagine the caramel flavor—I just couldn’t not order it!!

I usually love sweet coffees, but these sweet dessert friends seemed like they would go well with an Americano, so I ordered an Americano today 😉

More than anything, this notice stuck right on the POS caught my eye!!! These days there are lots of no-kids cafés, and ordering drinks for Mom and Dad plus separate drinks for the kids can get expensive and feel like a burden… What thoughtful consideration!! I was so touched because I could feel how much the owner cares about children 🥹

Desserts by the second-floor window

It was the best Earl Grey baked treat I’ve ever had.

The Sweet Potato Salted Caramel Financier was crisp outside from the hardened caramel and moist inside too~!

The Dirty Chocolate Madeleine was the best too, seriously, haha. It was my first time seeing chunks of chocolate inside a madeleine!! Whenever I bought a chocolate madeleine before, I was disappointed because it only tasted like cake and not chocolate… But I don’t think the owner skimps on chocolate here!! The chunks of white chocolate in the Earl Grey White Madeleine prove it too, haha. With big, whole chunks of chocolate inside the Dirty Chocolate Madeleine as well, it can’t help but be delicious!!! Chocolate lovers absolutely have to try it, haha. I highly, highly recommend the Dirty Chocolate Madeleine 👍👍

Spacious main building and annex

You can drink coffee outdoors on the first floor, while the second floor is fairly spacious and has a lovely atmosphere by the windows.

There is even a separate annex in the building right beside the main one, so it felt like a much bigger café than I had expected~!

The annex has stylish DEUL furniture placed throughout, so it is fun to look around at the interior too!!

DEUL is a Korean designer furniture brand, and I heard that you can purchase the pieces displayed in the annex, so I found myself looking at the furniture with even more interest 😊

There was plenty of parking too, so it was easy to visit by car~! Overall, I loved the atmospheric café vibe; it was a great place to relax over coffee. The space is large as well, so I recommend it for a date or a get-together with friends 👍👍 Personally, the madeleines were so delicious that I keep thinking about them… haha.
