Songjeong café for a window-side ocean pause: Suwolgyeonghwa

An ocean-view café near Songjeong Beach

This was not my first time at Suwolgyeonghwa. I came with friends last time, and it stayed in my memories from the Busan trip because the view, atmosphere, coffee, and tea were all so good. So I came back again this time.

The café at Suwolgyeonghwa is on the third floor of a three-story building.

The atmosphere is wonderful from the entrance onward. I debated whether to walk Songjeong Beach first and then go to the café, or visit the café first and walk the beach afterward, and in the end I went to the café first. The weather was a little overcast that day, but the ocean view was still beautiful. Songjeong Beach is less than a minute from the café, so it is easy to go back and forth.

Even though it was a weekday, there were quite a few guests. As soon as we entered, the friend I came with was delighted, saying it was so pretty. Haha.

Songjeong sea and beach train through floor-to-ceiling windows

It is so nice to look out at the sea through these full-front windows while drinking delicious tea. Suwolgyeonghwa's teas have distinctive flavors you can find here, and they are truly delicious; this is also a popular place with international visitors. I assumed the Busan Beach Train would pass Songjeong Beach, and you can actually watch it go by from Suwolgyeonghwa. It would be a great place to come after getting off the beach train, too.

The fusion interior combines Korean traditional touches with polished modern design, making this a place both Koreans and international visitors could love. If I had a friend visiting from abroad, this is a Busan gem I would absolutely want to bring them to.

The little object-like accessories placed around the café are so pretty, too. There was a guestbook, and I considered writing in it, but I ended up only reading other people's entries. It felt like the kind of place that could become everyone's own place of memories. Reading the other entries was fun, too.

At every seat in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, there were couples as well as plenty of people visiting alone. With a view like this for just gazing blankly at the sea, coming alone is not a bad idea at all.

I found myself thinking that one day I would like to come alone, gaze absentmindedly at the waves, sky, and sea with a cup of tea, and let so many thoughts fall away before I leave.

Lemon Sunset tea and the Dalbodeure box

We ordered coffee, tea, and the Dalbodeure box. Even the way everything is served is so pretty, right?

The Dalbodeure box is a menu item made by gathering together Korean traditional cookies and snacks.

Ah, actually, they are Korean snacks in a fusion style rather than strictly traditional ones. Some monaka (crisp wafer sandwiches) contain red bean paste, but the ganache monaka had something rich and delicious, rather like cream cheese, inside.

The tea I ordered was Lemon Sunset, and honestly, they named it so well. It is exactly the right name. Hibiscus and lemon come together so you get the refreshing tang of lemon, while the tea is tinted red by the hibiscus.

The Dalbodeure box also has a financier. It is topped with gamtae (sweet seaweed), and the combination works so well.

The presentation is so pretty, too, isn't it?

This is a skewer with crispy brown-rice flakes of injeolmi (chewy rice cake). I personally love injeolmi, so it was really delicious. I think this would be such a nice place to come with my mom, too~

After such a lovely time at Suwolgyeonghwa, we headed to Songjeong Beach. It was truly a wonderful time ^^
