It was my friend's birthday — she lives in Busan — and I've completely gotten her hooked on Daegu mungtigi (raw beef), so she said she wanted mungtigi for her birthday, haha. So I went looking for a Daegu mungtigi spot I hadn't tried yet, and that's how I ended up at Mihyang Mungtigi near Dongdaegu Station!!! Let's start with exactly where it is.
Where is Mihyang Mungtigi Dongdaegu Station Main Branch?
Mihyang Mungtigi, a well-known Daegu mungtigi restaurant, sits right across from the Shinsegae Department Store main entrance, greeting you with a vintage-looking exterior. Being near Dongdaegu Station, it's a perfect spot to take a friend visiting from out of town, like I did, and it's also great for anyone looking for good drinking spots near Dongdaegu Station.

How many seats, and when does it fill up on a weekday evening?
The inside of Mihyang Mungtigi isn't huge, but it's kept very clean. There were about 10 seats. I got there at 5:30pm on a weekday, and just after 6pm, every single one of those seats was taken.

Covered side dishes and clean-tasting water at Mihyang Mungtigi
The most surprising thing at Mihyang Mungtigi was these food covers. The basic side dishes came prepared and covered like this, and it honestly felt like coming home from work to a table your parents set for you so you wouldn't skip a meal.

And the water came in a clean bottle — they gave us something like barley water or buckwheat water, and it was really refreshing. The basic side dishes were pretty good too, perfect for nibbling on before the main dishes arrived. This is basically K-appetizers, right?!
What's on the menu at Mihyang Mungtigi?
Here's the Mihyang Mungtigi menu. Besides mungtigi, there were other mains like raw brisket sashimi and hanwoo yukhoe, plus sides ranging from yukjeon (beef pancake) to yukhoe bibimbap, yukhoe kalbimyeon (cold noodles with raw beef), ramyeon, and various drinks. Having non-alcoholic beer on the menu was such a nice touch, right? Slightly disappointed there was no bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) though!

Side dishes: flat mandu and seasoned minari
Let's get into the food review at Mihyang Mungtigi, a Daegu mungtigi spot. Here are the side dishes. Even before the main dishes came out, there was so much to eat — the table was genuinely packed. Especially the flat mandu (dumplings) with minari (water dropwort) salad — that was such a distinctive and truly delicious combo~❤️❤️❤️

Mungtigi and yukhoe bibimbap: how big are the portions?
And here's the mungtigi and yukhoe bibimbap we ordered as mains. Both dishes were piled so full you couldn't even see the empty space in the bowls, right?! ꈍ﹃ꈍ ❤️ The yukhoe on top of the bibimbap was practically a mountain — I was shocked!!!

Isn't the color amazing too? Good-looking raw beef tastes good too — seriously, no fishy smell at all, no gamy taste, and it was so fresh the texture was fantastic! Look, it doesn't even fall apart when you shake it!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

What thick-cut raw beef mungtigi tastes like
The best thing about Mihyang Mungtigi's raw beef is how thick it's cut. The texture is truly, truly a work of art. A lot of mungtigi fans really care about texture, and out of all the Daegu mungtigi spots I've tried, this one is number one for texture. My friend agreed too — she said she loved how it was thick and chewy but never tough~🤗✨️

How to eat mungtigi: wrapped in seaweed with warm rice
When you order mungtigi, they give you seaweed and warm rice with it — and wrapping it up like gimbap (seaweed rice roll) is genuinely delicious. The mungtigi sauce here is spicy and nutty in a good way, so wrapping it all together, it disappeared in no time. First time eating it this way, but the formula of delicious + delicious = totally delicious definitely holds up here~😍

Yukhoe bibimbap so big there was no room for yukjeon
And here's the yukhoe bibimbap, which won me over twice — once with the portion, once with the taste. The insane amount of yukhoe, like an entire plate's worth just dumped in, meant that even though we originally planned to order yukjeon (beef pancake) on top of this, we couldn't — that's how huge the portion was, and it was so delicious too.

If you're looking for a fresh, delicious, generously portioned Daegu mungtigi restaurant, I recommend Mihyang Mungtigi near Dongdaegu Station :-)
