While looking for a good spot near Dongdaegu Station in Daegu, I decided on tonight's dinner: Modak Texas Barbecue! I visited once last year and remember the food being SO good and the owner being so kind. So I arrived with even higher expectations this time haha... a familiar taste is the scariest thing .....

Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch has a pretty distinctive exterior for the Dongdaegu Station area. Shops around Dongdaegu Station tend to be packed tightly together, so there aren't many places with a pretty exterior from the outside — but Modak Texas Barbecue really stands out. If you want to eat somewhere with great atmosphere, I highly recommend this place! A must-visit restaurant near Dongdaegu Station.

You can park at the MD Building lot at 26 Dongbu-ro 32-gil! You get 1.5 hours free with orders over ₩50,000, so make sure to check!

Menu and prices: what should two people order?

The menu includes signature steaks, Texas barbecue, pasta and more. The most popular order is the platter! You just order based on the number of people. We added one pasta to the 2-person platter. That combo is just right to leave you completely full haha

There's also a wide variety of whiskeys and cocktails, so it seems like a great spot for a special occasion haha

Tomato stew and nachos before the barbecue

The first thing to come out was tomato stew! As soon as we ordered, they brought out nachos and tomato stew first! They told us it's a soup made in-house, and it's delicious whether you dip nachos in it or eat it alongside the meat .... They said it tastes even better while it's warm haha

The signature platter: brisket, pulled pork and buffalo wings

The signature set I order every time I come! Brisket, pulled pork, buffalo wings, plus a combo of salad, fries, and dinner rolls!

Wow, the meat was so tender it fell apart the moment I touched it with a fork. The meat itself tastes great on its own, but pairing it with tortillas or dinner rolls makes it twice as good haha

How is the shrimp rosé ravioli?

Next came the shrimp rosé ravioli! It was my first time having ravioli, and it has a charm that's different from pasta. The shrimp were super plump and tasty — quite a special dish!

Best way to eat it: dinner-roll burgers and nacho tortillas

Try splitting the dinner roll in half and stuffing it with meat, salad, and sauce to make a Texas-style homemade burger!!!! The tender meat pairs so well with the bread. You'll finish it in no time.

Here's the tortilla-eating tip the owner recommended!

This is a trick they taught us on our last visit — crush the nachos served before the meal into crumbs by hand and put them inside the dinner roll or tortilla along with the meat. The crunch of the nachos between the soft bread and meat takes the nacho tortilla to a whole different level — totally addictive.

Tortillas, coleslaw, and other sauces are all free refills!

Roasting marshmallows indoors after the meal

Last but not least, marshmallows — you can't skip them after barbecue haha. When I visited the Palgongsan branch before, there was an outdoor seating area where you could roast marshmallows outside after the meal, but this branch is entirely indoors, so I wondered if there'd even be a spot for it. But they had one set up just for that, and it's super cute haha

Turns out I have zero talent for roasting marshmallows ..... ㅠㅠ
