Mandu-crusted mandu bun (menbosha) and whole squid stone jjamppong in Dong-gu, Ulsan
In short
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong is a stone-pot jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jjajang restaurant on Ilsanjin-gil in Dong-gu, Ulsan. This time the writer added whole squid and menbosha (fried shrimp sandwich) to the stone jjamppong, and walked in with no wait on a Friday evening. The rice underneath the noodles turns into crispy nurungji (scorched rice) once the noodles are gone — that's the kicker here.

Hi, it's Kaengkaeng. Last time I had the stone jjajang at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong and it was so good, so this time I came back for the stone jjamppong.
Exterior

It's near Ilsanjin so it's pretty easy to get to. The place is big too.
Is parking convenient?

There's a dedicated free parking lot right in front, and there's tons of space. Just like last time, plenty of spots today too. No need to worry about parking!
Interior and the wait

There's a waiting area too. If there's a wait, you register with Table-ing. We came on a Friday evening and had no wait at all.

Group visits work fine here. The tables are split into a left and right side from the center, and each side had a ton of tables. Just a note that there are no private rooms.
Everything was really clean and well managed.
Menu lineup

This is the main event. Stone jjamppong/jjajang paired with a handmade pork-chicken soup set. I had the stone jjajang set last time and it was so satisfying!!

There are all kinds of combinations, so take a good look.

Ordering a set gets you ₩2,000–3,000 off, so go with the set.

There's a menu for three people too.

Besides the sets, there are à la carte items too. Pork soup, chicken soup, pork-chicken soup, menbosha, fried dumplings — lots of side dishes.

There's also a kids' yuni-jjajang (mild jjajangmyeon). And they sell gaoliang liquor too!

Basic side dishes and self-service bar
Pickled radish and onion come out as the default banchan.

If you need more, grab it from the self bar. Grab the green onion kimchi from the self bar too.
Rice is unlimited refills as well. It's just generous, truly generous.
Stone jjamppong with whole squid added

Finally, here it is — stone jjamppong👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The heat coming off the stone pot is insane.

We also ordered whole squid as an add-on. Totally plump and chewy — a genius texture.

The noodle portion is huge too, right? The broth reduces down and really soaks in, so it's genuinely delicious. That's the power of the stone pot. There's also plenty of shrimp packed inside.
Is the menbosha worth ordering?
This time we got the menbosha too. Honestly the price is a bit steep so I went back and forth on ordering it, but no — you really have to order this.

Dip it in this gochujang-ketchup-ish sauce and it's pure bliss. Turns out menbosha is actually delicious. Worth every won.
It's stuffed with minced shrimp inside and the juices are insane. One bite and the juice just bursts out. It's genuinely huge too. I was eating this in front of my girlfriend and it was so funny I snapped a photo.

Nurungji after finishing the noodles
The real kicker of this stone jjamppong is the nurungji (scorched rice). Rice is spread underneath, so once you finish the noodles, the nurungji forms automatically — this is the actual kicker. And since I wanted more rice, I added a whole bowl and scraped the pot clean.

Near the register there's yakult and barley gangjeong (rice cracker snack) waiting for you. Had dessert too and wrapped things up nicely.
Amenities
There's even a kids' microwave and a dish storage cabinet.

Country-of-origin labeling is properly posted too.
Tips

There's a Naver review event running too, so make sure to grab it~
Final verdict
I'd also had the stone jjajang before. That's genuinely insanely good too. Both the stone jjajang and jjamppong are delicious, so order whichever!!!!! Guaranteed good.
