Where is Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom in Wonju?

Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is a yukgaejang (spicy beef and vegetable soup) spot on the 2nd floor of a building on the way to Wonju Bus Terminal. It's also an easy trip from Wonju City Hall and the Dangye-dong/Musil-dong area.

Today I'm introducing Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom! It's a yukgaejang restaurant near Wonju Bus Terminal~

Is Yukdaejang really open 24 hours?

Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is basically open 24 hours, but it's closed from Tuesday 21:30 until Wednesday 9:30, so keep that in mind~

A place you can eat at any time is rare — how great is it to be able to get a solid meal even in the middle of the night!! Everyone should save it on their map and drop by sometime haha.

Inside Yukdaejang: seating and eating alone

The interior of Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is spacious and clean. The seats are comfortably separated too, so it looks good for meals with family or friends, or even as a group dinner spot.

⚠️ Also, a lot of solo diners were there, so you can go without feeling awkward! ☺️ The staff were also really kind~

There's also a well-set-up self-serve corner where you can scoop extra side dishes. Worried the red soup might splash on you? Look to the left of the self-serve corner — aprons are ready for you to use!!

Utensils and wet wipes inside the table-edge drawer

For utensils, there's a drawer at the edge of the table — just pull them out from there! Wet wipes are provided too haha.

Basic side dishes set on the table

The basic side dishes come out like this, and if you need more, just use the self-serve corner I mentioned!!

What the family ordered at Yukdaejang and what it cost

  • Traditional yukgaejang: ₩12,000
  • Yukkal-myeon: ₩12,000
  • Brisket seolleongtang: ₩11,000
  • Hanbang bossam platter: ₩16,000

We ordered these four dishes~ We tried the hanbang bossam as a side dish haha.

Brisket seolleongtang, 11,000 won: milky, rich beef broth

The brisket seolleongtang boasts a rich, milky broth! My mom picked this one. It was packed full of glass noodles and brisket inside. And the portion was basically large-size level haha.

We seasoned it to taste with the finely sliced green onions they brought and the pepper set on the table haha.

Even though it was brisket, it was so tender and tasty! The broth was rich and savory too — best for a comforting meal. Mix in some rice and eat it with seokbakji (radish kimchi) and a bowl disappears in no time👍 If you want a hot, filling meal, I'd really recommend this!

Traditional yukgaejang, 12,000 won: the spicy, savory signature

This is the traditional yukgaejang my sister picked. Since we came to a yukgaejang restaurant, you can't not try the signature dish! My sister is a glass noodle fanatic, and there were plenty of those too haha.

A spicy, savory aroma wafted out and really got my appetite going. The soup was also packed with meat and vegetables! The green onions especially were sweet and hearty, so good to chew on!! Meat, glass noodles, big chunks of green onion, and a savory, spicy broth on top of that... the best💕 If you like traditional yukgaejang, everyone should try this.

Yukkal-myeon, 12,000 won: knife-cut noodles with a mini bowl of rice

Yukgaejang is great, but yukkal-myeon is so good too haha. I wanted to slurp up some noodles, so I ordered the yukkal-myeon. The curly, chewy noodles looked so delicious. When you order yukkal-myeon, you get rice in a mini bowl about half the size of a regular one — so you can eat the kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and still have rice afterward (total win-win).

Kalguksu noodles simmered in a spicy broth... the noodles soaked up the broth completely and it was so good ㅠㅠ

How to eat yukgaejang with the seasoned chive salad

Among the basic side dishes was a chive salad, so I mixed some in and slurped it up. Adding the chives somehow made it even tastier! The sign at the table recommended adding chives too, so I tried it once — everyone should add it in too haha.

Hanbang bossam platter, 16,000 won: worth it as a side

This is the hanbang bossam (herbal-marinated boiled pork) we ordered as a side dish to share. It came with spicy radish salad and kimchi haha. I smelled it and the herbal aroma was really something.

I guess they use good medicinal herbs — the aroma was great and the meat was incredibly tender haha. Wrapped in a lettuce leaf, one bite was so tasty..❤️ I think it was really worth ordering as a side dish. If you're on the fence about a side menu, I recommend adding this! haha

Meanwhile, after finishing all the yukkal-myeon noodles, I mixed the mini rice into the leftover broth

I was already full from the noodles, but it was so good I mixed in the rice and finished off the broth too haha. I really felt stuffed to the brim.. We didn't even order the large size, so what's up with this portion haha. It was such a satisfying, delicious lunch🥰
