In short
Hado is a casual course-dining restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. A couple of 10 years came on a date for the Hado Basic Course at 45,000 won per person, eating through pea tart, sweet shrimp apple tart, two bisque pastas, chicken breast sous vide steak with carrot purée, and Earl Grey ice cream over about an hour. [A 10-year couple's food hunt] This is SY, the blog owner. Today I want to introduce a casual dining spot called Hado (하도) that my boyfriend and I visited during a date in Haenggung-dong!
There are so many good-vibes restaurants in Haenggung-dong these days, but Hado stood out as a place where you could enjoy a course meal without any pressure. It's got both atmosphere and value for money, so I wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for a Haenggung-dong date restaurant :)

What is the atmosphere like at Hado?
Hado, located in Haenggung-dong! From the moment I walked in, it felt calmer and cleaner than a typical casual Western-style restaurant. Since it's a course-dining place, I worried it might feel too formal, but it turned out to be way more relaxed than expected.

Apparently the name Hado means "underdrawing" or "base sketch" — the idea of building one full experience on a solid foundation. Thinking about the atmosphere and the food lineup, the name really fits well :)

The restaurant is done in an overall black-and-white tone! Rather than a flashy, decorated restaurant, it leans clean and calm. The lighting and interior aren't overdone either, so it was easy for the two of us to sit, talk, and eat together — it would also suit a blind date or couple's date. With this kind of atmosphere, I got why people seek this out as a Haenggung-dong date restaurant.

Seating at Hado and how many people you can book
Hado has 2-tops, 4-tops, and bar seating, but you apparently can't request a specific seat when booking. Maximum reservation size is 4 people! The restaurant itself isn't huge, but that actually made the quiet, cozy atmosphere feel even stronger.

The CD player and shared earphones on each table
One of the most memorable things about Hado — they have a CD player! There's a CD player and couple-jack earphones set up in the restaurant, so you can bring your own CD and listen to it together. You can also bring your own earphones, so I imagine it'd be really nice for couples to bring music that means something to them and listen together...! Not just a place to eat and leave, but somewhere you can enjoy music too — that felt like Hado's own special touch :)

What comes in the 45,000 won Hado Basic Course?
What we had that day was the "Hado Basic Course" — ₩45,000 per person. The basic course runs about an hour, and even though it's called a course, there was no need to feel like it was too difficult or formal; we could enjoy each dish comfortably one at a time.
- STARTER: Pea tart / Sweet shrimp apple tart
- MAIN: Minari (water celery) yuzu bisque pasta / Bisque pasta
- PROTEIN: Chicken breast sous vide steak
- DESSERT: Earl Grey ice cream

It's an open kitchen, so if you sit at the bar seats you can watch everything being made in real time — fun to watch as well as eat.

Starter: pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart
The first starter to arrive was the pea tart! True to a first course, it was a light, one-bite kind of dish. I liked that it didn't start off too heavy — it felt more like a gentle wake-up for the palate. It came out in a neat, bite-sized piece, and honestly the look of it was so cute haha.

Next up, served alongside it, was the sweet shrimp apple tart! The soft texture of the sweet shrimp combined with the apple gave it a refreshing feel, which worked really well as a starter. Right from the beginning of the course, the ingredient combinations weren't ordinary at all, which made me more curious about what was coming next.

Main: minari yuzu bisque pasta and bisque pasta
Ta-da! Next came the main dishes — can you tell the difference between the two?

On top is the bisque pasta, and below is the minari yuzu bisque pasta.

The minari yuzu bisque pasta! Personally, this was one of the dishes I was most looking forward to that day. The rich, savory flavor unique to bisque got an extra fragrant, refreshing lift from the minari (water celery) and yuzu. Bisque sauce can sometimes feel heavy, but the minari and yuzu kept cutting through it, so it was easy to eat all the way to the last bite.

The original bisque pasta we shared alongside it was also really good, with a rich, deep sauce. The bisque sauce clung well to the noodles, so the flavor really hit you with the first bite. When you look for Suwon course restaurants, a lot of them turn out to be pretty pricey, so it was especially nice that Hado let us experience a course without much financial pressure.

Both pastas were so good that I already want to try their other pasta varieties next time.

We scraped up every last strand of noodle, didn't leave a single one.

Protein: chicken breast sous vide steak with carrot purée
The protein course was chicken breast sous vide steak! Honestly, when you hear "chicken breast," the first thing that comes to mind is that dry, chalky texture. But maybe because it was sous vide, it was actually really tender and moist. Even after already eating the pasta, it wasn't overly rich and I could eat it cleanly — a great composition for anyone trying a course meal for the first time.

When I heard it was a carrot-based purée, I thought, huh? What kind of combination is that? But when I actually tasted it, the carrot only came through as a subtle aroma, and the flavor tasted more like sweet pumpkin. You can also pay extra here to upgrade to a beef steak!

Dessert: Earl Grey ice cream
The final dessert was Earl Grey ice cream! For me, a course meal doesn't feel properly finished without dessert at the end haha. The subtle Earl Grey aroma paired with the sweet, cold ice cream made for a perfect palate cleanser. After the rich pasta and steak, this dessert felt especially refreshing.

They even thoughtfully hand you mouthwash on your way out. Overall, Hado felt like a place that lowers the barrier around the idea that "course meals are only for special occasions." The atmosphere is special enough, but without feeling like an overly formal restaurant, so it's also great for treating yourself on an ordinary date.
