Haenggung-dong fine dining with Earl Grey ice cream dessert: Hado
In short
Hado is a casual fine dining course restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. On a weekend visit for two, the basic course (45,000 won per person) plus a 21,000 won upgrade to sous vide chuck flap steak came to 111,000 won, covering a tart starter, bisque and carbonara pasta, sous vide chicken breast and chuck flap steak, and Earl Grey ice cream. The bar seats facing Hado's open kitchen and that final Earl Grey ice cream were the most memorable parts, and worth coming back for.

Where is Hado in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, and when is it open?
Hado is a casual dining course restaurant on the 1st floor at 138 Hyanggyo-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. It's open daily 11:00-21:30 with a break 14:20-16:00 and last order at 20:00, and on Mondays it only runs dinner, 16:00-21:00. There's a public parking lot right next to the restaurant — 1 hour free, then ₩300 per 10 minutes after that.

I was looking for a course restaurant near Haenggung-dong in Suwon with good atmosphere and good value, and my partner and I went on a weekend! This place is Hado, a casual dining spot that's apparently also known as a top course-meal restaurant in Suwon!

Hado's interior and the small comforts at each seat
Hado is a great spot for setting the mood on an anniversary or date, and honestly the value for money is amazing since it doesn't feel pricey at all. The interior is dim but stylishly done — I really liked it!

The atmosphere felt upscale enough that everyone was talking quietly, which meant my partner and I could have a quiet conversation and really focus on the food.

It felt private while also feeling like we were getting fancy service — loved that!!

On one side there were CDs you could listen to from your seat, plus a charger, a blanket, and even a coat hanger (such a nice touch)
What does Hado's basic course cost for two, with the steak upgrade?
The menu I'd pre-ordered through Naver Reservation was Hado's basic course for two. The basic course is ₩45,000 per person, which is excellent value, and I upgraded one of the mains to a chuck flap steak sous vide for an extra ₩21,000, bringing the total for two people to ₩111,000!! At other places that price would be per person!

Being able to enjoy a course meal at this price point is genuinely something to be thankful for. There are bar-style seats and regular table seats, and I sat at the bar since I wanted to watch the open kitchen.

The open kitchen view from Hado's bar seats
Sitting at the bar, the open kitchen was right there in full view!! Watching it was genuinely fun. My partner and I kept saying 'that's totally our pasta' only for it to be another table's, and trying to track the sequence made the time fly by!

Watching the food get made right in front of us made the anticipation build with every dish that came out. You could see how much care went into plating each item — almost too pretty to eat!

Hado's course order: tart starter through bisque and carbonara pasta
The first starter to arrive on Hado's basic course was a green pea tart and a sweet shrimp apple tart. Served as bite-sized finger food, the combination of the crisp tart shell with fresh sweet shrimp and tangy apple was perfect. A great way to start the appetite.

Next up as a main was the bisque pasta!! The noodles were cooked to exactly the texture I love — I want it again. For the other pasta flavor I chose carbonara,

and the rich, thick sauce had real depth of flavor. The sauce soaked right into the noodles, thick and delicious!!

Sous vide chicken breast vs sous vide chuck flap steak at Hado
The next main course was the ultimate in moistness — the sous vide chicken breast steak. Maybe because it's cooked sous vide, it didn't feel like chicken breast at all, it was that juicy. If every dish was like this, I could eat a chicken breast diet every single day.

The chuck flap steak was cooked to just the right doneness, so good!!!!! I wanted to learn how they grill meat like this haha. The more you chew, the nuttier and tastier it gets. Dipped in the potatoes and house-made sauce that came with it, it disappeared instantly.

Hado's final dessert: Earl Grey ice cream
The final dessert on the Hado course was Earl Grey ice cream!!! This was genuinely delicious. The plate is so large and neatly set that the portion might look small at first glance, but there was actually a decent amount, perfect for cleansing the palate as dessert!!!!!
The Earl Grey aroma was strong enough to cleanse the palate completely, and being sweet and cool at the same time, it rounded off the meal beautifully and left such a good impression that I want to come back again !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The staff were genuinely kind and attentive too, so I felt comfortable throughout the meal. The nice touch of offering mouthwash at checkout was amazing.

I'm planning to come back once the next season's new course menu launches. If you're looking for a date or anniversary dinner spot in Suwon, I recommend this place!!
