Gunsan pork bone soup spot with green onion kimchi: Insaeng Gamjatang
In short
Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and pork bone hangover soup restaurant on Gongdan-daero in Gunsan, Jeonbuk. Visiting with a child, the writer ordered a separate kids' hot pot bulgogi for 7,000 won, while the adults had the green onion kimchi bone soup and the mustard leaf kimchi bone soup, both spicy. At 11,000 won with three big bones in a bowl, the bone soup at Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch was strong value.

If you're looking for really good gamjatang (pork bone and potato stew) in Gunsan, Insaeng Gamjatang can't be left out. I have fond memories of eating gamjatang here, so it comes to mind often. Once the cool breeze started blowing, I found myself craving a hot, steaming stone-pot broth again. So today, instead of gamjatang, I came back to try Insaeng Gamjatang's haejangguk (hangover soup). One bowl of hot, hearty soup and my stomach was warmed all the way through.

Insaeng Gamjatang has a spacious parking lot, so it's convenient to visit by car. Best of all, it's open from 7 in the morning until late at night, so it's a great spot to stop by whether it's an early breakfast or a late-night hangover cure.

Inside Insaeng Gamjatang: dining room and table setup
Every time I visit, I notice how clean and spacious the restaurant is, making it comfortable to eat in. The tables are also spaced generously, so it's great for visiting with family or friends. On top of that, the staff are always friendly, so I always leave in a good mood.

The tables come neatly set with the sauces and disposable gloves you need for the meal. Everything you need is already prepared without having to ask, and the tabletop is kept tidy, which I really liked.
Kids' hot pot bulgogi at 7,000 won while the adults go spicy
Every time I came with my child before, I ordered gamjatang, but since we shared it, I always had to keep it mild — which was a bit of a shame. But today I noticed a kids' hot pot bulgogi on the menu! Since you can order a separate kids' menu, the adults get to enjoy whatever they like too. Thanks to that, I ordered the spicy haejangguk without hesitation this time! If you've ever given up on spicy food because you were dining with your kid, ordering the kids' menu alongside it means the adults can properly enjoy a good, spicy bowl of soup.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Insaeng Gamjatang
There are three basic side dishes. Honestly, the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) looked so delicious the moment I saw it that I forgot to take a photo and just started eating. So the kkakdugi in the photo is already a bit eaten into. In reality it comes out even more generously than the photo shows, just so you know! There's also a self-serve bar, so I grabbed a few more side dishes I wanted.

Why is even the water delicious at this Gunsan gamjatang restaurant, haha? Is it corn tea? It's sweet and toasty and so good.

Green onion kimchi vs mustard leaf kimchi pork bone soup
A moment later, the main dish I was waiting for arrived. The haejangguk came out piled high in a hot stone pot — it made my mouth water just looking at it.

I have great memories of the green onion kimchi gamjatang, so today I ordered the green onion kimchi bone soup version. I was even more excited to see if I could enjoy that same flavor I love in haejangguk form.

My mom chose the mustard leaf kimchi bone soup. The staff told her it tastes even better with a sprinkle of perilla seed powder, so she added some in. I was curious how the sharp, pungent flavor of mustard leaf kimchi would taste combined with the nutty perilla powder.
This is the kids' hot pot bulgogi I ordered for my child. It has glass noodles, which kids love, along with chewy rice cakes, and my child ate it up happily. The portion wasn't too much either — just the right amount for one meal for a kid, which I liked.

Best of all, it's only 7,000 won! When you're visiting with a child, it's a menu you can order without any worry, which made it even more satisfying.

How much meat do you get in the 11,000-won pork bone soup?
The value at this Gunsan lunch haejangguk spot is amazing!! The bone soup is only 11,000 won. In these times of rising prices, that's really easy on the wallet, and the portion is so generous too.

The stone pot itself was noticeably big, and... it holds three whole big bones. The meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone.

It's even better paired with the green onion kimchi or mustard leaf kimchi, and dipping it in the sauce is a treat too. If picking meat off the bone feels like too much trouble, there's also a boneless haejangguk option.

Once you've eaten enough, mixing in rice with the leftover broth is basically the unwritten rule! Just looking at it, you can practically taste how spicy and rich the flavor is.

Free draft beer from the Naver review event
They're also running a Naver Place review event. I got two glasses of draft beer from the review event and enjoyed them nice and cold.

If you're craving a hot, hearty broth and looking for a filling meal, this place is worth a stop. If you're searching for a Gunsan lunch haejangguk or a great gamjatang restaurant in Gunsan, you'll be able to enjoy a satisfying meal here.
