Looking for a good BBQ spot in Giheung? Here it is! A butcher restaurant where you grill top-grade hanwoo over charcoal 🥩 I wanted beef for lunch and searched for good Dongbaek, Yongin restaurants, and found this place!

Dongbaek Hanokjip Butcher Restaurant 🏠 True to its name, it really feels like a hanok (traditional Korean house). Great atmosphere, huge space, and the meat was so good I fell in love 🤩 It looked super clean too — seems like they just did a renovation 👍

Where is Dongbaek Hanokjip, and what are its hours and parking?

• Location: 221 Eondong-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea / 162m from Everline Eojeong Station Exit 1
• Hours: Tuesday–Sunday 11:30–21:30, closed every Monday
• Parking: free, in the restaurant's own lot behind the building
• Baby chairs available, private rooms and group seating possible, corkage allowed (fee)

Found a Giheung restaurant with easy parking~ Dongbaek Hanokjip has its own spacious lot right behind the building, so zero parking worries! 🚗

There's a bus stop for Eojeong Station and the Eojeong subway station right in front, so accessibility is amazing! 👍

Window seats, group tables and baby chairs at Dongbaek Hanokjip

Dongbaek Hanokjip has window seats where you can feel the outdoors 🌲🌳 Perfect with this cool weather these days 👍 We sat by the window too haha 😍 There's even a coffee machine for after-meal mix coffee or Americano ☕️

Inside it's huge, with group seating too~ We sat by the window and the view was so green 🌳 The window opens wide onto the hanok's wooden veranda, so the view is lovely haha. With booth seating, it'd be easy to come with a baby too! There were plenty of baby chairs ready 👶 Rooms fit 5-28 people, and group seating goes up to 140 people, apparently 👍 Great for family gatherings or work dinners haha.

How much is the weekday lunch special?

Dongbaek Hanokjip's weekday lunch special runs 11:30-14:30. Beef bulgogi hotpot ₩17,000 ➡️ ₩13,000 (min. 2 people), hanwoo yukhoe cold noodles ₩18,000 ➡️ ₩14,000, and cold/mixed buckwheat noodles ₩10,000 each (house-made noodles!). The lunch special is such a steal 🤩

※ Lunch special isn't available on weekends or holidays 🙅‍♀️ Since we came at lunchtime, a lot of people were having the hanok bulgogi hotpot — huge portions and it looked amazing 👀

How to order meat at the Dongbaek Hanokjip butcher counter 🥩

Dongbaek Hanokjip takes regular orders too, but you can also pick meat butcher-shop style.

• 2️⃣ Go to the counter and have the barcode scanned
• 3️⃣ Bring it to your table and grill it yourself 🔥

They also do takeout from the meat counter, so you can grill it at home too! 🥩 Each cut of hanwoo has a grade sticker on it, so you can check before picking 👀 The packaging was clean too, no blood at all, super fresh-looking!

Guess it's a real 1++ hanwoo spot in Dongbaek — the second I saw the showcase, my mouth watered 🥩🤤 So many different cuts, all fresh and high quality!! The marbling was packed in so densely that I immediately picked a thick-cut sirloin 💗 There was even a separate dry-aging chamber next to it.

They have pork too! Pork belly and pork neck both looked thick and delicious 🐷

What's at the self-serve side dish and drink bar?

Dongbaek Hanokjip runs a self-serve drinks bar too 🍺 Soju/beer ₩4,000 / cola/cider ₩2,000 — just grab them from the fridge yourself! Highballs, cheongha, and others are ordered through a tablet 🍹

The self-serve bar was clean and genuinely good quality 🥬 Lettuce, green leaf lettuce, cabbage, bean sprouts, shredded scallion, onion, kimchi, garlic, ssamjang, and sauces — it's all there.

Thick-cut 1++ hanwoo sirloin grilled medium over charcoal 🔥

Grilling it over the charcoal fire gives it an incredible aroma 🔥 Slightly charred outside, pink inside! Medium doneness 🤤 Dip it in the oil sauce and it's seriously 🥹so good

For the first bite, we just dipped it lightly in salt to taste the meat's natural flavor 👍 After that, straight into the oil sauce! Charcoal smoke + savory richness + sesame oil combo is seriously insane. Highly recommend adding a bit of wasabi too 🌶️

The first thing you taste is the charcoal aroma, and as you chew, the fat melts away, spreading savory juices all through your mouth 🤤 Not a single tough part — tender, but not mushy either, it still has a good chew to it 👍👍

Ssam 🥬 A piece of meat on lettuce, with onion and bean sprouts, a bit of ssamjang and a dab of wasabi, all in one bite! The crunchy texture mixing with the tender meat is amazing! Kept wrapping bite after bite lol.

The grilled scallions and shishito peppers on the side were also a treat 😋 Grilled scallion brings out a strong sweetness, cutting through the richness between bites of meat, and the garlic was slow-cooked whole in the oil!

Finishing the meal with hanok doenjang stew, 7,000 won 🍲

We added doenjang stew to finish 🍲 Dongbaek Hanokjip's hanok doenjang stew ₩7,000 / suhyangmi rice ₩1,000. It comes out bubbling in a full stone pot, packed generously with tofu, zucchini, onion, enoki mushroom, and cheongyang chili 👍

The broth is deep and savory, with a spicy kick from the cheongyang chili that really wakes it up 🌶️ This is honestly the real highlight! A spoonful of doenjang stew and a piece of hanwoo over rice — yum 🤤 Savory + spicy + beefy juices, a triple combo 😆

Is Dongbaek Hanokjip worth it? Final verdict

Grilling the 1++ hanwoo I picked myself over charcoal made it taste even better 🔥 The weekday lunch special beef bulgogi hotpot is also great value and a popular pick 👍 The place is spacious, clean, and has baby chairs, so I should bring the baby along on a weekend too 👶 If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant in Dongbaek, Yongin, I highly recommend this place ✨✨ Definitely coming back next time I crave beef haha.
