Three months of vintage perm, now going straight

I got a vintage perm about three months ago~ I enjoyed the perm style plenty, but I started wanting to straighten my hair, so this time I decided to switch to clean, straight hair~!

So I booked through Naver Reservation and headed to Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch~! Just a heads up, a ₩10,000 deposit is charged when you make the reservation!

Touring the facilities, from the entrance to the kids' room

Before entering the salon, there was a spot near the entrance where you could wash your hands~ I heard it was set up during the COVID years for hygiene. There was even a step stool for young kids~

Going inside, premium hair products were displayed on the left! You could browse shampoos and various hair products and even buy them~ A shampoo brush caught my eye in particular. I like browsing hair products anyway, so it was fun to look around for a bit! On the right there was a sofa waiting area where you could sit comfortably.

A kids' room you can bring your child to

What especially caught my eye was the kids' room~! There was a separate space for children who come along with their parents, where they can watch videos or play with toys and books while they wait~ It's glassed in, so you can check on your child in between while getting your hair done — it felt very thoughtfully done! There are a lot of parents in Dongtan, so this service really fits the neighborhood~

The drink prep area was also open-plan, which gave a sense that it's kept hygienically~!

One- and two-person shampoo rooms, White Zone and Brown Zone

There were both one-person and two-person shampoo rooms, and the two-person room could be divided with a curtain, so it seemed easy to use comfortably!

The White Zone felt even brighter, with sunlight coming in through the full window~

Going further in, you reach the Brown Zone space. The White and Brown zones are divided by a boundary.

And there was also a spa room where you could get comfortable hair care in a massage chair~ I didn't use it this time, but I'd love to try the hair care with the massage chair next time! I have a massage chair at home, but getting cared for at a salon must feel different~

Overall the interior was clean and the space well organized, so this Dongtan hair salon made a great first impression!

Consultation: why I added a root perm to the volume magic

First I got the drink service. I asked for the summer menu's green citron tea iced, and it was refreshing and sweet, great to drink cold before getting my hair done~ I also munched on a grain cookie and enjoyed a bit of downtime. After that I had a consultation with Head Designer Kang Yu-rim! Since straightening alone would make my crown and sides sit too flat, we decided to add a root perm to the volume magic~!

The process, from softening to neutralizing

After the consultation, I got a shampoo first before the actual treatment began~ The softening agent was applied, followed by heat treatment, and then the hair was left to sit naturally while checking the hair's condition! After checking the hair's condition, extra heat treatment was applied where needed and a second shampoo followed.

Then the cut came first. I told them the length I wanted, and since I'm growing out my bangs, only the center part was trimmed a little.

Honestly, even just with the cut, the overall shape of my hair looked much cleaner and I liked it~

After that, the volume magic straightening began in earnest! I've always found it a shame that straightening makes my hair lie too flat, but this time the root perm was done together, so the top and sides were worked to lift naturally~ The rest of my hair was smoothed neatly with a flat iron,

and at the end, the neutralizing step was done and it was rinsed with treatment!

The finished style: straight hair that isn't flat

When all the treatment was done, I looked in the mirror~ and this clean, straight hair I hadn't seen in a while turned out even better than I expected!

Overall it looked neat but with a little volume kept alive at the top and sides, so my hair didn't sit too flat, which I loved. Best of all, it came out in exactly the length and style I wanted, so I was very satisfied!

This time, Head Designer Kang Yu-rim did my hair~!

While waiting for my husband, who went to work out while I got my hair done, I took some photos! My husband said it suited me and looked pretty~ Well, he couldn't really say it looked bad, haha.

After thoroughly enjoying the vintage perm for three months, coming back to clean straight hair feels like the style changed and my mood got a fresh start too~! I hope this review helps anyone looking for a hair salon in Dongtan~
