My first scalp treatment, prompted by dryness and itching
Today, I got a scalp treatment for the very first time in my life. Maybe it is because the weather has become a little cooler and drier, or maybe it is age..! My hair seems to be getting thinner, and I think my scalp has started to itch too, so I came in to have it checked.

Haru Dupi is on Basement Level 1. It might be a little hard to find at first, so I recommend turning on Naver Map before you go! I was wondering where I should head, and then it suddenly appeared right in front of me~

The waiting area is clean and nicely arranged, so if you sit for a moment, they will show you in right away. Since it was my first visit, mine took about an hour and a half. The treatment does take a fair bit of time, so I recommend allowing yourself plenty of extra time!

A consultation on scalp concerns and daily habits
I gave the program guide a quick read~ They also have packages, so if you live nearby, it could be nice to visit regularly! Afterwards, I filled out some basic information on a checklist-style form. You simply write a little about your usual scalp concerns and lifestyle habits.

Next, it was time for a pre-treatment consultation with the director over a cup of rooibos tea. That machine is seriously something. It lets you peek right inside your scalp~ and it was so fascinating. They examine even the areas you could never see on your own, in such detail and so carefully~
I was told that I shampoo fairly well, but had a little flaking here and there, and that an imbalanced oil-moisture level was making my hair thinner. I had written on the questionnaire that I use a cooling shampoo, and the director suggested switching to a gentle baby shampoo with plenty of moisturizing ingredients, using my old shampoo only twice a week! She also recommended taking probiotics and scalp-and-hair vitamins!

How did the Fatigue-Recovery Haru Care treatment go?
Now it was time to change and head into the treatment room. You just put a gown on over the clothes you came in wearing, so there are no awkward moments! The chair in the treatment room is so soft and comfortable that you need to be careful not to fall asleep. I received the Fatigue-Recovery Haru Care.
First, round patches were placed on both hands to begin. After oil was used to ease tension, the scalp treatment got underway in earnest.
- Neck and shoulder décolleté care
- Silver gua sha scalp massage
- A warm pack after shampooing
- Two rounds of shampooing
- Scalp essence application
- Partial upper-body massage
This is the order of the treatment, and it takes about an hour. I was advised to shampoo in two rounds: first remove the oiliness, then shampoo thoroughly. I was told that this is a little more helpful for scalp health!
For the second shampoo, they mixed tea tree oil into it because I often get headaches and the capillaries in my scalp are dilated. The cool, tingly feeling was so refreshing and clean. Why had I never thought of mixing oil into shampoo before..! I thought it was such an ingenious method. Applying the scalp essence also felt unbelievably fresh and cool. It was my favorite part of the course!! The best, seriously~

Checking my scalp condition before and after the treatment
The scalp at the bottom is from before the treatment: it was a complete mess, with red areas, areas darkened as if sunburned, and flakes in several places. If you look at the scalp at the top after the treatment, you can see that it has been cleaned up and looks moisturized and plump.
I really recommend getting this treatment at least once, even as a one-off. Simply checking the current condition of your own scalp feels valuable enough on its own~

A travel kit and even a scalp prescription
Haru Dupi also sells the two types of shampoo and essence used in its treatments. I did not buy any separately, but when I got home and tried the small travel-kit sizes I received, I could really feel that the ingredients were good~ Even after shampooing, my scalp felt moisturized and lovely. The supplement on the right is a type of hair vitamin. It is not a product sold by the salon; it was recommended by the director, and I took the photo with permission.

Just like receiving a prescription at a hospital, the director issues you a scalp prescription. She also writes down lifestyle habits to improve, so after the treatment it was nice to have a clear direction for what to do and how to do it. I liked that it did not end as a simple one-time session: this is a place that guides you so you can care for yourself at home too. I felt cared for in such detail throughout the whole treatment, so it was literally a day full of healing. If you have scalp concerns in Dongtan, I definitely recommend visiting at least once~!!!
