What Veteran General Fish Market looks like at dinner peak time
Stepping inside, the place mixes a pojangmacha (street tent bar) vibe with modern raw fish restaurant interiors, and it's wide and open so it never feels cramped. I visited during evening peak time, and true to its reputation as a hot spot near Songnae Station, it was packed with customers. Tables full of delicious fish plus the buzzing energy of the crowd made for a lively, upbeat atmosphere.

Even with lots of customers, the tables are spaced wide enough to enjoy comfortably. The seating arrangement is varied too, making it a great Songnae Station raw fish restaurant for couples, friends, or any kind of gathering.

The self-serve vegetable, side dish and pancake bar
On one side there's a self-serve bar where you can casually help yourself to vegetables and side dishes~

The real charm point of Veteran General Fish Market~ there's also a pancake corner. Today my youngest son worked hard to make pancakes for Sinkkulkkul to eat. Maybe because my son made them, the pancakes were especially delicious that day~ haha

The menu at Veteran General Fish Market near Songnae Station is packed with all kinds of raw fish, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), fried dishes, sushi, meal options, and good-value sets.
How much is the medium flounder, rockfish and mullet platter?
We ordered the medium mixed platter made up of flounder, rockfish, and mullet.

Basic sides like seaweed soup, pollack roe, and gim (seaweed) started to be neatly set out~

Crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside grilled saury, fresh salad, and sweet corn were served up generously. Each one paired really well with the main dish, the raw fish, throughout the meal.

The sliced raw fish came out neatly plated by type on a large stone platter, and you could tell how fresh it was just by looking. The pieces were big and thick, so the portion was generous too. Veteran General Fish Market near Songnae Station has a great value for money — not just the main raw fish, but the variety and volume of the basic sides and self-serve bar too.

Flounder, rockfish, mullet: three textures compared
The reddish mullet, the translucent white flounder, and the darker rockfish all had a glossy sheen — pure freshness itself.
Flounder was clean-tasting yet chewy, and rockfish had an unmatched springy texture. Mullet had a crisp bite that filled the mouth with a nutty flavor with every chew. Since Veteran General Fish Market slices the fish right after ordering, the raw fish tastes excellent. Sinkkulkkul is hooked on this taste and keeps coming back💕

I enjoyed it in all sorts of ways with Sinkkulkkul's seasoning, sauce, and lettuce wraps, right down to the very last piece.

Good anju (drinking snacks) call for a drink, of course! Today I enjoyed soju with my youngest son, sharing a satisfying 'ahh~' together. Sinkkulkkul's meal is done~ oink oink
