Bucheon Simgok-dong jokbal with self-serve rice balls: Kkalkkali
In short
Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is a jokbal (Korean braised pork trotter) restaurant in Simgok-dong, Bucheon, a short walk from Bucheon Station and near Bucheon University's Daehangno street. Taking my parents out after work, we ordered the small half-and-half jokbal (original plus spicy) for 36,000 won and self-serve rice balls for 3,500 won, rounded out with the complimentary fruit makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles). The original jokbal was tender with no gamey smell and the spicy fire jokbal had a pleasant heat, so Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is worth a repeat visit.

A recommended jokbal spot in Simgok-dong, Bucheon — Kkalkkali Jokbal. I was trying to figure out where to take my parents after work and ended up here. They ate so well it was a total win for my 'be a good kid' challenge! Hours are daily 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

Where is Kkalkkali Jokbal in Simgok-dong, and how far is it from Bucheon Station?
Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is located at 51 Bucheon-ro 29beon-gil, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, on the 1st floor. It's near Bucheon University's Daehangno street, so it was easy to find, and it's also a short walk from Bucheon Station.

Is Kkalkkali Jokbal a good spot to bring your parents? Dining room and seating
The inside of Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is spacious and clean, so it was perfect for bringing my parents along. None of that greasy feeling you often get at jokbal restaurants — it was clean and comfortable. With 2–4 person tables, group seating, and even separate outdoor tent seating, it's great for gatherings or family meals too!

Menu and the price of half-and-half jokbal
Kkalkkali Jokbal says it uses no artificial coloring, simmering the broth with about 20 kinds of medicinal herbs plus fresh vegetables and fruit for a healthier take on Korean-style jokbal (braised pork trotters). The menu is varied too — from basic jokbal to garlic jokbal, fried jokbal, spicy jokbal, bossam (boiled pork wraps), half-and-half jokbal, and combo sets. We ordered the half-and-half jokbal (original + spicy), small, for ₩36,000.

The side dishes paired nicely with the jokbal too. The bean sprout soup that comes as a default side was cool and spicy-good!

How does the original jokbal taste? Tender, with no gamey smell
There's a subtle herbal scent typical of jokbal, but it wasn't overpowering — clean and delicious. Not a hint of gaminess or off-smell, and it was so tender the texture was insane. Soft, moist, everything 🥺

The meat was thick-cut too, so the texture was great and the portion was generous — such good value for money 🫢

Chewy on the outside, moist on the inside — I'm not usually a fan of the skin part, but I secretly finished every bit here. The signature chewy texture was great, and it got more savory the more I chewed, so I just kept eating.

How spicy is the fire jokbal at Kkalkkali Jokbal?
Kkalkkali Jokbal's fire jokbal has a deliciously spicy kick, making it my top pick of the day 💘 There's a mild smoky flavor, the sauce is well soaked in, and it isn't too harsh. A lot of places do fire jokbal that's just spicy without being tasty, but this one is actually delicious... spicy yet addictive, and great to alternate with the original when that started feeling a bit rich.

The free fruit makguksu that comes with the jokbal
It'd be a shame to eat jokbal without makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles), right? The great part is Kkalkkali Jokbal gives you makguksu for free. Free makguksu?! 🥺 It seemed to be blended with fruit, so it was refreshing and sweet-tangy — perfect alongside the jokbal. The sauce on the noodles is spicy-tangy, making it a perfect match with the jokbal.

It cuts right through the richness and somehow you just keep eating. Wrapping a bite of jokbal in the makguksu noodles is next-level delicious.

Self-serve rice balls for 3,500 won, paired with beer
Self-serve rice balls are ₩3,500. You can't skip these when eating fire jokbal, so we ordered them too. Paired with the fire jokbal, the combo is honestly the best 🔥

And with a cold beer on top, all your fatigue just melts away, you know the feeling. Jokbal and beer — need I say more... ahh, the best.

Final verdict on Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch
The meat was tender and soft, with zero gamey smell — clean and delicious all around. I would definitely, definitely, definitely go back. Another good meal today. If you're looking for a great jokbal restaurant near Simgok-dong, Bucheon, I recommend Kkalkkali Jokbal.
