Today I'm bringing you a review of Hongdae Gureume, a Japanese restaurant that has held its spot in Incheon Nonhyeon for 10 years. With ramen, sushi, pork katsu and more on the menu, it's a great pick for solo meals, dates, or family dinners.

Where is Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch, and how do you get there?

This Incheon Nonhyeon favorite sits just a 1-minute walk from Nonhyeon Station, making it easy to reach, and Megabox, Soraepogu, and Neulsolgil Sheep Farm are all nearby, so it's a good stop after an outing.

Inside Hongdae Gureume: the bar counter for solo diners

The interior has a cozy, unmistakably Japanese feel. The 4-person tables are spaced out comfortably, so it looks great for families or dates.

There's also a separate bar table set up for solo diners. It felt like a comfortable spot to eat without worrying about anyone's stares.

As you'd expect from a popular Incheon Nonhyeon lunch spot, there's quite a bit of waiting during peak times, and there are separate seats set aside for waiting when that happens. I visited alone on a weekday around 2pm and got a relaxed 4-person table without any wait at all.

What made me feel this place really cares about guests was that every table had a phone stand, an apron, and a hair tie. There are even baby chairs available.

What is on the menu at Hongdae Gureume?

Hongdae Gureume's menu is genuinely wide-ranging — ramen, cold soba, chirashi-style sushi, pork katsu and more. Most items come as a single dish or as a full set, which is a real plus since you can mix and match to your taste.

After some deliberation, I ordered the chirashi-style salmon sushi and the Korean-style gureume ramen, both as single dishes! (Yeah... I was really hungry that day.)

Chirashi-style salmon sushi, 12,900 won

Often called chirashi sushi, this dish comes with the soy sauce served separately rather than mixed in, so you pour it yourself. First off, the salmon looked really good quality.

Scooping up the salmon together with the onion, sauce, and flying fish roe on top made the flavor so much richer.

Korean-style gureume ramen, 9,900 won

The ramen has a tonkotsu broth with Korean-style spicy sauce added, and the broth was so deep and spicy that it felt like a hangover cure even though I hadn't been drinking the night before.

I ordered it thinking the chirashi sushi might get a bit heavy after a while, and it was a great choice 👍 The crunch of the bean sprouts paired nicely with the thin noodles too.
