Cheongna Lake Park date night: score-cut kimchi pork belly, Sammi-jip
In short
Sammi-jip is a pot-lid pork belly restaurant that recently opened near Cheongna Lake Park and Dongyang Enpartment Complex 4 in Seohae, Incheon. Leaving their 100-day-old baby with grandma, the couple shared two servings of score-cut kimchi pork belly (₩17,000 each) plus bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and fried rice, with kimchi, scallion salad, minari and bean sprouts grilling on the pot lid so nothing got boring. Between the baby chair and the parking spaces out front, Sammi-jip is an easy recommendation for Korean barbecue near Cheongna Complex 4.

With a 100-day-old baby, going to a barbecue restaurant isn't easy. But I was craving pot-lid pork belly so badly that I left the baby with grandma and went to eat! The pot-lid pork belly I hadn't had in a while tasted absolutely amazing.

Inside Sammi-jip and the self-serve bar

Is this a pork belly place or a café...? This is the first time I've seen such a pretty, stylish barbecue restaurant. The wood-tone and white interior feels comfortable yet upscale! Great for dates, but also for company dinners and gatherings.
They have a baby chair, so it's good to visit with a baby too. I'll definitely bring mine again once they're bigger. They even had the nice touch of disposable aprons!
The self-serve corner is spotless too — lettuce and other wraps, garlic scapes, pickled peppers, pickled onion, ssammu (pickled radish for wraps), garlic, seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, ssamjang (dipping sauce), and more. The pickled peppers here are seriously addictive... you have to try them.
The country of origin is clearly labeled too. The pork is domestic, of course!

Two servings of score-cut kimchi pork belly: portion and what comes with it
This Cheongna Lake Park favorite gives you a really generous spread. It was two servings of score-cut pork belly, and with the naengmyeon and fried rice, the portion was just right for two of us.
Kimchi, scallion salad, seasoned bean sprouts, minari (water dropwort), king oyster mushrooms and onion all come out and get grilled together right on the pot lid! Absolutely delicious.

Kimchi made in-house by a real artisan! Look at that color, right? Genuinely so good.

Dongchimi (watery radish kimchi), lettuce wraps, sauces and more! Anything missing you can just grab from the self-serve bar. The dongchimi was so refreshing and clean-tasting... I drank the broth nonstop. It totally cuts through the pork belly's richness.

Bring on the kimchi~~ Since it's domestic pork belly, the meat quality is great.

The colors were so pretty and the whole thing looked amazing... The pork belly was thick, so the juices burst out. Their special sauce is the kicker — it really elevates the meat's flavor.

Rice, well-grilled pork belly, and kimchi grilled in the pork belly's fat — eating that combo together is thrilling... best combination ever. Since the kimchi is homemade by the artisan, it's on another level.
The lettuce wraps are fresh too! I'm someone who loves wrapping food in leaves.

Scallion salad, minari, and bean sprouts all pair perfectly. The bean sprouts in particular were so good we got a free refill... The pork belly is delicious, but the side pairings are what make it. With so much variety, we never got tired of it, even by the end.

Since everything stayed hot until the last bite, it tasted even better, I think. Pork belly is truly best on a pot lid... I love kimchi pork belly so much.
Finishing with bibim naengmyeon and fried rice
The bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) comes out more like a half-portion cold noodle dish. The seasoning was really good. Naengmyeon after grilled meat feels essential.
And to finish, fried rice~ It has egg mixed in, so it's light and nutty. Seriously addictive — I didn't leave a single grain of rice!
The verdict on Sammi-jip
This Cheongna pork belly favorite, Sammi-jip, is great because you get to enjoy so many ingredients together on a big pot lid. The naengmyeon and fried rice were delicious too, making for an even more satisfying meal. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Cheongna Complex 4, definitely visit Sammi-jip.
