Spicy jjukkumi-samgyeopsal combo for two, mild spice: Yajju Yajju

In short

Yajju Yajju Maekom Jjukkumi Main Branch is a spicy webfoot octopus stir-fry restaurant near Chunui Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The writer ordered the jjukkumi-samgyeopsal combo for two with steamed egg, flying fish roe fried rice, and cider at spice level 1, wrapping the octopus with perilla leaves, pickled radish, flying fish roe, and corn — and found two servings plenty without adding extra octopus. There's no parking lot, but the portion size and value make it worth another visit.

How do you guys like to eat jjukkumi (webfoot octopus)!? My parents like it blanched and dipped in vinegared gochujang, but I love it stir-fried spicy and either wrapped in lettuce or mixed into bibimbap! Spicy lover here ᐡ⌯'・'⌯ᐡ♡ So I go hunting for jjukkumi restaurants pretty often, which is why there's already quite a lot of jjukkumi stir-fry posts on my blog haha

This time too, my jjukkumi cooldown was up, so I went looking for a good spot and headed to Bucheon :-)

Parking and the exterior — no parking lot here

Exterior of the Yajju Yajju Maekom Jjukkumi building

The one downside of Yajju Yajju Maekom Jjukkumi,,, no parking lot,,,! There's a public lot about 10-15 minutes away, so I parked there and walked over.

Lunch special sign outside the restaurant

They have a lunch special, but I went on a Sunday at 5pm so I just walked straight in.

Jjukkumi character decoration at the entrance

A cute jjukkumi greeting you right at the entrance. Looks like a legit neighborhood favorite already, right!?

About 6 tables inside

Interior seating with about 6 tables

Inside, it's all these tables that just look like they were made for drinking, and there are about 6 of them.

Corner of the restaurant with sign for outside restroom

You have to step outside for the restroom, and just in case, I'll blur out the door code!

Sign on the wall listing the health benefits of jjukkumi

Oh, and there's a sign next to it listing the health benefits of jjukkumi, and there are more good ones than I expected!? But number 3, the diet effect — ㅠㅠ,,,,,, I feel like that one's canceled out since it's so tasty you end up eating a ton haha

Instructions on how to eat jjukkumi deliciously

There's also a guide on how to eat it deliciously, but since I've had it so many times, I've already got it memorized!!

Sign for the receipt review reward and rock-paper-scissors event

The Naver receipt review reward is a choice of self-serve rice ball / drink / meat dumplings. The unusual event was rock-paper-scissors! Win, and you get to pick one of dumplings or a drink — but win on your very first try and you get both. Lose, though, and you get nothing, which is exactly the kind of gambler's event I love haha

We ordered the jju-sam for two + steamed egg + flying fish roe rice ball + cider (spice level 1). I almost added extra jjukkumi but didn't, and I'm glad I skipped it since the portion was huge — also, steamed egg doesn't come standard, so I'd recommend adding it!

The jju-sam for two mukbang — how was spice level 1?

Side dishes including perilla leaf, seaweed, pickled radish, and cold soup

For side dishes there was perilla leaf and seaweed for wrapping the jjukkumi, pickled radish, corn, flying fish roe, mayo sauce, and a refreshing cold soup came along too.

Small dish of mayo sauce for wraps

I thought this sauce was just mayonnaise, but when I dipped a bit straight in, it was way too tasty for that,, it's probably still just a mayo-based sauce,,!?

Cooked jjukkumi stir-fry topped with bean sprouts

The jjukkumi all came out already cooked, and they said you can mix in the bean sprouts if you like, or eat them plain.

Two-person portion of jju-sam on the hot plate

Even without adding extra jjukkumi, the two-person portion looked seriously generous.

Close-up of plump jjukkumi and thick-cut pork belly

Plump jjukkumi that almost looked like nakji (long-arm octopus). The pork belly wasn't thin and floppy either — it was thick-cut, the kind that says 'this is pork belly, don't forget it!!'

Jjukkumi picked up together with bean sprouts

I wanted to keep some crunch from the bean sprouts, so I just gave them a light toss and ate them together. Spice level 1 was just slightly spicy eaten plain, but perfect once wrapped up (by a spice-wimp's standard).

Perilla leaf wrap with jjukkumi, flying fish roe, and corn

Perilla leaf + pickled radish + jjukkumi + mayo sauce + flying fish roe + corn. You've got to pile on as much flying fish roe and corn as possible for max flavor.

A bite of jjukkumi wrapped in seaweed

I love seaweed too so I tried that wrap as well, but for some reason the pickled radish combo really hit the spot that day.

Extra order of steamed egg

You've got to eat steamed egg while things are juuust a little spicy, so steamed egg is a must ദ്ദി ՞• ·̫ •՞ ꒱

A spoonful of steamed egg

Finishing off with flying fish roe fried rice

Once we'd mostly finished, we stir-fried a portion of flying fish roe fried rice.

Flying fish roe fried rice cooking on the hot plate

We'd left a bit of meat and jjukkumi to mix in with the rice, and that made it even better!!

Fried rice mixed with leftover meat and jjukkumi

For reference, the fried rice pairs incredibly well with seaweed.

Sign about cash payment discounts and coupon event

There's also a cash payment discount and a coupon event, so if you live nearby it might be worth coming often to collect stamps. It's not easy to order jjukkumi for two and walk away fully satisfied with the portion, but here it's generous and great value — if you're in Bucheon, this is the jjukkumi spot, no question ˘͈ᵕ˘͈
