The whole building was Hanchon Seolleongtang, so it was quite a large space.

The interior was nice and open, with some partitioned seating too, so it seemed like a good spot for family meals or group gatherings.

Menu lineup
The menu was pretty varied too!
- 🍲 Seolleongtang: regular · spicy · special · dumpling · hwangtae (dried pollack) · kids'
- 🥩 Soups: yang-gomtang (tripe soup) · so-meori-gomtang (ox head soup) · doganitang (knee cartilage soup) · wang-galbitang (king short rib soup)
- 🍚 Others: ttukbaegi bulgogi (hot pot bulgogi) · half chicken soup · mul-naengmyeon and bibim-naengmyeon (cold noodles), etc.
How much do you actually get for ₩11,000 seolleongtang?

We ordered seolleongtang, spicy seolleongtang, galbitang, and kimchi mandu :) The food came out in under 5 minutes. Maybe it's because I've had a lot of stress lately... but the kimchi and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) tasted so good that day haha. Crunchy and not too sour, they went perfectly with the seolleongtang.

The basic seolleongtang is ₩11,000, but it comes with quite a lot of meat and plenty of noodles, so it was filling.

At first the seasoning felt a bit weak, but you can grab scallions and salt from the self-serve bar to adjust it to your taste.

Adding a bit of salt really brought out the deep, rich flavor and umami of the long-simmered bone broth.
- ✔️ Rice, scallions, and salt available self-serve
- ✔️ ₩11,000 seolleongtang
- ✔️ Generous meat and noodles
The surprise favorite: spicy seolleongtang
And my surprise favorite was actually the spicy seolleongtang...! 🔥

My friend's husband had ordered it, and she gave me a taste — turned out to be the one I enjoyed most haha. Spicy and clean-tasting, it felt like it melted all my stress away!

There were plenty of glass noodles too, so noodle lovers would especially enjoy this. Even I — someone who only eats mild food and can't handle spice — found the heat level enjoyable :)
How were the galbitang and kimchi mandu?

My friend's galbitang came with big, generous chunks of short rib.

With enoki mushrooms, jujube, scallions, and glass noodles as garnish, it seemed like the kind of dish you'd crave on a day you want a hearty, restorative meal!

The kimchi mandu had thin wrappers packed full with plump filling. The kimchi flavor was a bit on the strong side, which paired well with a mild dish like seolleongtang 🥟
✨ Overall thoughts

After a warm bowl of gukbap for dinner, I felt full and warmed up haha. Especially since you can get a deep, rich seolleongtang for ₩11,000 with free rice refills, it was a great-value restaurant near Kkachiul Station!
I've had something a bit scary going on personally lately, so even going out felt hesitant — but I was really grateful to have good people around who didn't hesitate to invite me out. I guess Koreans really do run on rice power :) When you're going through something hard or exhausting, try getting a warm Korean meal and soaking up some good energy 💛
